hi keefers_77 i took ur advice and when i hooked up the amp without speakers it still did the same thing. and i took the cover off and there is no smell or anything and it doesnt have a rattle. i have 2 12" jbl gt series subs and they arent bridged. i do remember that i had it in a very compact space in the trunk i dont know if that would cause a problem but i am not sure what to do.

Try not hooking up any speakers to the amp then turning it on. If the stays green then there is a problem in the wireing. If it goes red again then disconect the amp and turn it upside down and listen for a rattle. If no rattle then smell the amp. If it stinks really bad then something is shorte on the inside. If it dont smell then take the cover off and look for anything lodged on any contacts. Smell the amp again because with the cover off, if it is fried then the overpowering oder of a burnt amp will be more noticeable Are the subs bridged? Make sure that the wires do not make any contact with each other when installed. Let me know how it turns out? Good luck

You have an internal solder jump it must be repaired by authorized dealer or replace the amp at wholesale cost at www.godspeedaudioheaven.com either way its gonna cost you also try unplugging the RCA's aswell as speakers if still the same repair or change it!

Sounds to me like the amp is going into protection mode. Try placing one sub on the amp with very little gain. One of the biggest reason why this happens is because the subwoofers are wired wrong. What is the brand and model number for your amp?

I just got a sony xplod 1000 watt amp i got everything hooked up and when i turned the key the power light chaned from green to red. i check over the amp again and again, i cant find any thing wrong........

Try disconecting all speakers from the amp, turn it on after and if it stays on red it sounds like it had kicked the bucket. if it stays green start from their and check all of your wires for shorts (speaker wires) again. hope this helps...

Havin problem with a1200 class a/b amp it ligts green and red at same time after hooking in remote how doi fixdo i need diagram to fix

Make sure you don't have any shorts on your speaker wires or rca cables. Unplug one at a time, the turn on power until it stays green with no protect light, then you know what input is causing the short. If you remove all speaker wires and rca wires and all you have connected is the ground, power(12volts) and remote and it still lights up red/green(in protect mode) then your problem is the amp.

Hooked up to a kicker L712. Worked fine now its in protection mode. When i turn it on the light is green for a second then turns red. It wont stay green. What should i do? Is it the circuit board?

perhaps you are pushing the amp to hard check that the gain control knob is not turned all the way up. This will cause the amp to overheat. If not that check all of the wiring to the amp for a possible short.

1000 w sony xplode works at low volume then red lights at volume5

Most likely one of your subs are blown, or the Ohm's are too low for the ampliphier. Try hooking up one speaker at a time to the amp and see if it does the same thing. If it shuts off on one of the two speakers, that speaker is most likely blown.

It appears that the amp is going into protect mode. To eliminate external causes, read through the following page. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have a dub 4001 amp

Take it step wise.

Unplug the inputs and outputs from the amp (be sure to mark the wires so you can hook them back up), leaving only the ground, +12, and remote wire hooked up. Now, turn it on. If the amp light goes red, the amp is broken. If it goes green, turn if off, plug in the speakers, then turn it on. if it's red, its a speaker problem, if green, do the same with the inputs, and you'll have your answer.
