Did Kenwood cover it or did you have to buy one? Did you ever find out what the problem was?

That makes two of us. I have been looking for some time now. Seems you can get hideaway (brain) units for many other models but not kvt-815.

I want to have the dvd player work while driving the car.

Kenwood simply requires grounding the parking brake wire.
Take the "safety" wire and ground it to your Head Unit Ground.

Should I keep a unit's internal amp on when I already have two installed?

some models the internal amp is for the actual speaker wiring and not the rca jacks like you use to feed the amp for subwoofers.
you need to check and see how much power your amp can handle coming in. I would say cut it off and use your other amps

A brain is required period. The only way to use the head unit is to have the brain. I have 3 complete 815 setups in my vehicles and they all work flawless. A brain is required. Should you want to sell your head unit, let me know

The unit is clipping which means it's too loud, lower the volume and should be fine.

I have a question. Everything is working perfectly except for there is no picture on the TV nor DVD. It was working fine until the other day when I messed around with some wires seeing if any of them were loose. Any suggestions?
