I saw that you helped someone out with a problem on fixya's site. I have this dvd head unit for my vehicle and when I turn the ignition on, the unit reboots over 5 seconds or so. I've tried your idea of disconnecting all of the wires excepth power, ground and memory but it doesn't seem to help. It sure doesn't seem like the unit is going bad. Do you have any other suggestions?

Your unit has been previously programed with a code. Is this unit brand new from a shop or did you buy it form someone? If it's new you should contact the shop where you bought it from. If it's from someone, then contact them for the code. Unfortunately there is no way for us to bypass or reset the code...only Kenwood can reset the code. Sorry...
A brain is required period. The only way to use the head unit is to have the brain. I have 3 complete 815 setups in my vehicles and they all work flawless. A brain is required. Should you want to sell your head unit, let me know
Call these guys at hifiaudio.com and purchase the SWC module that matches your vehicle (ask for Scroche brand). Once you purchase the SWC module, make sure you read the installation instructions two or three times before you install it. Once installed, these SWC units work great. I just completed the installation on my 2008 F150 with the Kenwood DNX-7100 and my steering wheel interface works perfectly.
I have a question. Everything is working perfectly except for there is no picture on the TV nor DVD. It was working fine until the other day when I messed around with some wires seeing if any of them were loose. Any suggestions?
