You do not have to use the cd.
Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed.
then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Hi,
To get the IP Address of your Modem you will need to call your Internet Service Provider to get that info, and they can as well assist you in getting that in the Netgear Router.
Or in you windows settings you can check the option in Network and Sharing Center
mvincentc_49.jpg
Click on Home Group and Sharing Options above,
mvincentc_50.jpg Then select Change Advance Sharing Settings... to see the pic/page below mvincentc_51.jpg
Click on the Drop Down of home network to see the exact page posted and select all turn on network discovery so every time you turn your computer ON it will detect you network right away.
I do not think this will be an IP Address issue from the Modem since it should be auto detected by the router.
But if that would be the case then calling your Internet Service Provider will be best so they can provide you the correct IP Address from the modem and help you enter it in the Netgear Router settings.
I hope this helps.
Have a nice day,
mvincentc

NETGEAR wgr614 instalation

They don't seem to offer a download for the CD, but it's not really necessary.
Go to http://www.netgear.com/ and download the manual, which gives very clear instructions. This might take a little longer, but you'll have a much better understanding of routers when you're finished.
FWIW, most routers will work without any set up at all.
To enable encryption, you'll need to review the instructions.
