we have the same problem on a 50in. plasma panasonic that is 1 mo. old. the red light blinks 7 times then pauses. can't turn on, screen remains like it is off, except for the blinking red light the tv acts like it is shut off.

I have the exact same problem. I bought it June 06 and it died 2/20/09. It's out of warranty now. It was running and shut off and can't be turned on manually or with a remote. Does anyone know the estimated cost of repair for what appears via research to be a main power supply board &/or bad power supply audio board?

Is the power LED blinking or is it completely blank? If it's blinking, how many times does it blink in a row before it pauses?

If no blink and all power sources are all good the TV's power supply may need to be replaced.

Power LED on front panel blinks several times, there is a delay, then repeats. After fiddling and fuming (mostly fuming) I found that changing the input signal source allowed the TV to be turned on. When I changed the input signal source back everything was ok.

In other words...

My TV is connected to my PC's video card via an HDMI connector. My card has 2 HDMI connectors. I moved the connector (the part that comes from my computer) from one HDMI out to the other. The screen powered up. When I changed the connector back to the original HDMI out I got my display back.

So yeah, try changing your input signal source. If you're using cable try switching to your Xbox/PS3/whatever, or vice versa. If you only have one possible signal source then I have no clue.

It's almost like the TV doesn't get any signal from the current cable then goes into sleep mode until it gets another signal. My problem had to do with me changing a bunch of sleep/timeout/screensaver settings on my TV/comp.

Hope this helps someone.

PANASONIC TH-42PX60U 42 - half of screen not working

I had the same issue. I am going to replace my scan buffer boards. The upper half of mine works but the lower half is black so I would replace the lower Scan buffer board but in case of future issues I have ordered both upper and lower for $44.
The scan buffer boards are fairly simple to locate. Open up back of tv there are two biffer boards identical. The item or product code on them contain letters either SU or SD (Scan up and Scan down)Look up tv parts and item code you will find a place to order or just get the 1 800 number from tv manufacturer.

I have the same problem Panasonic Plasma TV wont come.

Alot of times capacitors on the power supply circuit board will go bad. They will bulge/dome or dry up which will cause this problem. Bad caps dont hold a charge, which is needed to maintain a voltage. The circuit board is two sided which makes replacing the caps difficult, and the board can be damaged and have to be replaced. Taking it to a repair shop may be cheeper and safer then doing it yourself. Having two-six caps replaced is a lot cheeper then a new board.

Panasonic TH-42PX60U plasma TV: red blinking light

are you using a PC to feed a signal or maybe a cable with an adapter?
I had the same issue when I used one of the rear HDMI ports to show a PC display. Apparently there is a software difference between the rear and side/front ports. Inputting the PC through the side HDMI port has solved the problem for me (so far!)

TH-42PX60U red light blinks 10 times wont come on

On a Panasonic TV the 10-blink error code can sometimes be caused by low voltage running through an HDMI cable, particularly from a Media PC or some video game consoles. Try disconnecting any HDMI cables and unplugging the Television for 30 seconds, then power it on without the cables attached.

If this works, connect the cables to the front panel (usually HDMI-3) which uses a different controller board.
