Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

2 Answers

Joe Goods Hey man, I saw that you said a friend of yours used Joegoods.com. I am considering using it over Microsoft to fix my Xbox 360 1 Red Ring issue, do you recommend me using Joegoods.com? The look pretty good, but I just want to make sure they are fully capable of fixing my 360. Any input would be great. Thanks man.

Isn't Joe Goods out of business? Sent a unit into them for repair and have not been able to reach them since. They stated a refund request was forwarded to Glalat.com. If anyone has information regarding this company please let me know.

I was playing splinter cell blacklist on my XBOX 360 S. I saw the four red lights (full ring) on the console's power button. The screen turned blue! I took out the chords and all. Then after about an hour...

What you saw is what is called the Red Ring of Death. Microsoft charges for support in such cases however, most people will just replace the xbox as it is cheaper. You can find out more information on the 4 red rings on the Microsoft website. For the most part, the 4 red rings are based on overheating of your processor. Which means you might need to go and purchase yourself a new xbox. I found this site that might help somewhat, it gives a list of error codes and more information. Hope this will help.

Red light lower right of ring E74 ERROR ON SCREEN ON XBOX.Can i fix it myself?

I've had friends with the E74 error, and unfortunately it is not covered under the same extended warranty as the red ring of death. However, if you got your Xbox in the last year or so, it should still be covered under the factory warranty, so call up Microsoft Support. Actually, call Microsoft Support anyway, sometimes the warranty information gets lost in the system.

So, providing you can't get satisfaction from their support line, I did come across two videos on youtube.com that showed different ways of "fixing" it. Just so you know, I have absolutely no ways of testing them out and have no way of determining if they will damage your Xbox further. However, if you don't have a warranty and Microsoft won't fix it, it's kinda useless anyway(my buddy used his as a target on the shooting range). The first one shows a way that shouldn't permanently damage the xbox:

But I don't know if you'll get it to work.

And the second one will definitely work, but will kill your xbox after doing it more than a few times. My friend used this trick, and kept his 360 on 24/7 until it quit on him.

These seem like the best of the "fixes" I saw. Hope one of them works for you.

Xbox 360 red ring of death

Well you are right, unless he has a sentimental attachment to it then you may as well try the fix yourself. Take pictures if need be. I have seen the video and it is pretty detailed. Go for it, he may not be mechanically inclined but that is how you learn.

"Key" issue - how to find

So you got the RROD on Christmas day, man that was a good present. The two lights (1 and 3?) usually means the system overheated and it cuts power to the CPU and GPU. If you did the bolts/washer fix, you actually do not want this to occur. You want it to stay on for 30-35 mins or so without doing the two lights (1 and 3). Usually you can do this by cooling the CPU fan and not the GPU. There is a good tutorial for the clamp fix here (http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htm). It worked for my XBOX 360.

Unfortunately, It sounds like you turned on the XBOX 360 with the DVD drive disconnected. If so, I hate to add to your headaches but your XBOX 360 is probably banned from XBOX live.

If not, there is a good tutorial for replacing your XBOX 360 drive at: http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-61.html It also talks about rekeying the drive.

If all else fails, you might trying talking to 360 Pros (http://www.360-pros.com/%28X%281%29S%28oyqpez55tpvpar451buhwgfi%29%29/xbox-360-repair-service.aspx). I know some people who have used their repair server and if you've opened the XBOX 360, you can not use Microsoft.

Power button is blinking red

if 3 of 4 lights are blinking red, you have a red ring of death and need to contact microsoft. this is distubingly common on some of the older 360 models.
