I have a westinghouse monitor L1916hw and my monitor was fine last night but this morn when I woke up the lighting was flickering and then went black and when I turned it off and back on it will stay lit...

Get in the habbit of turning off LCD monitors when not in use. First, save electric. Second, save your monitor as LCD will burn up faster than a CRT. As for your problem, I would assume it's burning out and/or about to burn out...overheating. I would shut the entire system down, let is sit for 5 minutes and reboot everything. If it still fails to strike properly, it is probably toast.

Get rid of volume bar in middle of screen

I had this same problem a while ago. It was because the top "touch" button on the side was being triggered at a rapid rate. I took mine back to the retailer because it was within the Westinghouse 1 yr warranty. After getting a replacement display (same Westinghouse 22 in), I have had to take it apart because of a bad video processing board. In doing so I have seen that the side buttons are very easy to get to and fiddle with. If you are out of your warranty period, perhaps try taking off the case of the display and fiddling with the button board and connections

Buttons on the bottom of the westinghouse monitor

momof3boysn1, Did you try removing the plug from the outlet strip and then plug monitor back in and turn it back on? Usually the button that looks like an asterisk with a small circle dead center will be the brightness control. get back to me if this won't help. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@

The Volume Screen on my monitor keeps popping up

Try putting pressure on the monitor near the buttons. There might be a short or some type of stress pressing the buttons.

Volume pop up in the middle of my screen

no photos of said window presented? i cant see them?
must be OSD? the monitor brain on screen display (menu)?
even with the DVI cable pulled?
only a monitor stated, w1907, no PC
some monitors have button lock
read the manual ?oops HP deleted it...
it tells you to push the menu key on the monitor for 10 seconds
and it unlocks. (4 buttons right side left button is MENU)
that power deal sounds super bad, like the power supply is bad.
if the monitor fails by its self not plugged it to a PC
then the monitors is bad.
try a reset on it? ( power off for 1hr, or off then plug in with power button held? or power on with menu held (wild guesses but common practice)
ok found your manual page 4-8 shows menu page advanced
list line in list factory reset.
but if the keys are dead, and power lamp failing
the power supply is no good or worse. worse is always possible.
and expensive

ever see the support page, read the guides

its over 10 years old now. 2007?
walmart has larger one for $50
cheaper that parts or repair this.... vastly

Monitor comes on for a split second, then goes to black

This is a problem with the capacitors in many different monitors. I have 5 IBM ThinkVision monitors sitting on my desk at work with the same problem.
If you know what you are doing, pop the monitor open and have a look at the powerboard inside it. There are four main capacitors, and its likely one or 2 will be popped. Get some replacements, solder them in and you're set.
Again, only if you know what you are doing. $3 of capacitors is cheaper than $50 repair.

Menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.
