Thank you for your help. If I try and fix my T.V. I will do just as you advised. There are so many great deals right now that I figure it is probably best to buy new and have a warranty. I'll be spending close to the same price.

    7 blinks on red light

I will have to admit by contacting Philips through email they have responded helpfully. They are willing to replace my TV even though it is out of warranty. They said they will pickup my old TV and deliver a new one this week. If this truly happens I will be a fan of Philips for Life because they are standing behind there products. My suggestion is to go to Philips website and email the President and someone will from his Office will be in Contact.

    Good Luck

I can't promise this is a fix for your tv, but I've had two so far with that same ailment. You need to replace the YSUS and BOTH buffers, if you want to do it one at a time to avoid any unnecessary costs, pull them and look them over carefully. If you see any burns on the bottom of the boards or if the hot glue around the heat sinks has gone brown, thats a telltale sign that the chip underneath is toast. Here's the next problem. Those buffers aint cheap....ebay's best price is about $150 each. Start with replacing the Ysus, then move on to the buffers. If you need help or advise in your dismantle, let me know and I'll send photos. Good Luck.

If you plan on doing that, let me suggest something to you. That panel is worth $$$ mucho dinero. Don't dump the TV, put it on ebay. Be sure to advertise that the panel isn't damaged. That should be an extra couple hundred bucks to put toward your new set! Also, if you didn't notice that the boards and even the panel are made by samsung and LG. A lot of folks are brand specific but don't know that what they are buying is all made by the same people just with different casings. If you do get another by a brand you recognize, but don't discriminate philips because of this experience.

Pin 93 of the MPU IC9003 monitors the status of the SC, SU, SD board. During normal operation, the photo-coupler PC6480 outputs a low to pin 93. If the SC, SU, or SD board becomes defective, a high is provided to pin 93. As a result, the unit shuts down and the power LED blinks 7 times.
