tried unplugging and reconnecting already and had no luck. any other suggestions.

also, this was a gift, no receipt, ordered online for best price, so will any dealer replace if we can't fix it?

Thanks, I have already contacted the seller and am now waiting for a response from him. I would really like to fix whatever the problem is b/c I feel it should be fairly simple. I mean the drum was just working and started the next song and it wasn't. Surely there is something that can be done. Thanks so much.

Hi
RMA is your only answer as of now. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but I don't know correct.

Dear Sir,

- Make sure they’re plugged into the correct jack. If they’re not, turn off the set, plug them in accordingly, then turn it back on.
- Try switching the cymbals to see if either works in the other jack. This will let you see if it’s the port or the cymbal itself that isn’t working.
- If you’re adventurous you could even open it up and see if there are any wiring problems.

1. Unscrew the back of the drum set and SLOWLY remove the back piece.
2. Use some sort of sharp tool to remove the glue from the sensor. (I used a small knife)
3. Clean off the glue if you want, but there are two parts to the 3 sensors. There is the inside circle and the outer ring. (Make sure you remember which wire goes to which, because you have to reattach it to the same one of your set wont work.)
4. Strip down the wire a little bit so that there is more of the wire for the sensor to read.
5. Use electrical tape to tape down each wire to the appropriate part of the sensor. (While doing this, it is good to connect it to the Xbox to see if the drums are working properly. You’d hate to screw everything back in and find out something didn’t work right.)
6. Finally, be careful that you reattached everything properly and then screw everything back in.
7. Connect your controller and drum away!

Thanks
Good Luck

This is actually a very common problem.... As ninja said, they have midi kits... These kits are actually free from Red Octane... Most likely, whats happening is that it is registering the hits wrong... the sensitivity is incorrect. This is where to go to have your FREE Midi to USB kit sent to you from Red Octane. Once you receive this kit,,, you go to Red Octane to download the tuning program. If you have any other questions, do not be afraid to ask... I'm always here to help. :D Please rate ... and most of all GOOD LUCK! Video game equipment is far from cheap... and if you buy something, you expect it to work.

Go to the warranty claims of the redoctane website and request a midi cable. use this to tune your drums

I used the tape method. You remove the cover on the bottom and stick tape over the sensor and replace the cover. It should make it 10x better

Unofficial possible solutions are on the official forums.
http://community.guitarhero.com/forums/14/forum_topics/131083 (Bonus: This one most likely IS warranty friendly - leaves no visible signs of tampering)
Note - I’ve posted in this topic requesting pictures from the people who have confirmed this solution. Hopefully we’ll get a little tutorial soon.

I have heard of a red drum solution. Ah, found it. It’s about halfway down: http://community.guitarhero.com/forums/55708/forum_topics/131200
And it includes pictures, how nice. I didn’t read it, but perhaps it can help your red drum issue.

Need to hook up cymbals for Guitar Hero World Tour

Turn over each cymbal. They are marked L for Left (Yellow) and R for Right (Orange) Each cymbal has a mini phone jack located along one side of the base that the mini phone plug that comes out of the adjustable cymbal support column needs to be plugged into. The jack on the back of the console, above the one marked PEDAL, is NOT for the cymbal.

Can't use drums for rockband on guitar world tour

The instruments for Rock Band and GH:WT are compatible on the PS3 and the Xbox 360, not the Wii. Blame Activision, the creators of GH:WT - they went a different route with hardware for the Wii that made things incompatible.
