No, my old 'phone still works so the line is ok and therefore I can't blame the service provider. The Phillips SE 655 still just continues "searching" but not connecting.Any other ideas anyone?

I'll try it but this is not a mogile phone and I'm not sure if it has a sim.

Unplug all cables from the base and remove handset battery, or if this is not removable, leave it unplugged 24 hours.

This will drain power from the unit and reset it.

If it still does not synch after this, then the unit is defective, broken antenna inside handset, or firmware problem.

Being the phone a not too expensive device, when this things happen, it is usually considered not serviceable .

The handset and the base station are trying to make contact (registering).

  • Move the handset closer to the base station. If the handset was out of range, it should be able to reconnect automatically to the base after a few seconds
  • Make sure that other electrical devices (such as audio and video equipment and halogen lamps) are at least one meter away from the base station.
  • If this does not resolve the problem, please follow the registration procedure for your handset to the base station according to the instructions given in the user guide..........

If u want user guide, i have that for u already :)

thanx.

Move closer to the base station.
• Make sure that your base station is on.
• Reset your unit and restart handset registration.

ok since this is a cordless phone please reset it by unplugging all the cords of the base and remove the battery from the phone and allow it to reset for 1-2 hours.Next plug in all the cords and then replace the battery in the handset. Now if you still get the searching error then make sure your base station is on and the phone is closer to the base station. If you still face the problem then restart the handset registeration. You can get them manual from the below link

Display keeps saying 'searching'

I don't have this model but I have had two Siemens phone systems. Typically, when the handset says "Searching" it is trying to connect to the base station (the part actually connected to the phone line). This can happen if the handset is too far from the base station to connect to it wirelessly. It can also happen if the handset has become unregistered from the base station (or was never registered to begin with). If the distance issue is not the problem, look in your documentation for how to register the handset and give that a try.

Stuck on searching also reads out of range (which it is not)

Couple of basic things. First, call or take the phone to the store where you purchased it. They are best equipped to deal with any problem, and often times will help you months after your purchase. Next, shut the phone off. Take out the battery. Put it back in. Turn the phone on.
Next. on the back of the phone there should be a tiny button. This is the reset button. Use a pen tip to reset it. Finally, check the company website, under troubleshooting. If you have this problem, someone else has also. Maybe the solution is posted. Hope this helps.

Phone says searching

The battery may be weak. Or it is too far from the base. Try exchanging the two. take the handset near the base and see if it will link.
