Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional

1 Answer

My screen randomly blacks out.

I have some other problems associated with the screen blacking out after I've typed in my password on the welcome screen and entered it. It then brings me to my account, but if I don't start clicking on icons (I usually click on Mozilla Firefox) to get the computer going, the screen blacks out on me. Why does this happen? It's not a hibernation problem, I don't think, because I've set up the power options so that the computer hibernates after 15 min of idleness, but I haven't even been on the computer for 15 min, and the computer shuts off. The screen goes black, but the light bulb and battery meter lights are still on green.Another problem I have is that it takes me around 15-20 seconds (sometimes less) each to press the power button so that the computer may shut down/turn on. Also, if I don't pres the button long enough, the computer may not shut down or it doesn't fully turn on. The light bulb would turn green, but the screen remains black. This didn't use to happen. Neither did the black screen coming on now and again. Even as I type this, I'm afraid my computer will black out on me suddenly. This is what basiclly happen's to me but i found this on other forums.. I just thought that you could help its kinda hard to explain but i "DO NOT HAVE" Vista or firefox so cancel that stuff out. And it also happen's when i watch full screen movies, or play full screen games..

Why mysql blackscreen dissapear when press enter button

this is normal for mysql server. It's simply wanting you to set the administrator password. the black box appears, you type your password, the black box closes.
This means the password is now set to what you typed in the black box (command prompt box)

Change XP Password

I generally don't like telling people how to change passwords because they can go doing it to other people but for some people this is a life saver.

First of all you will need access of a account on the same computer. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to do it without going onto xp. If you don't have any other accessable accounts then try the administrator account unless it's in use as your account. If you can't see follow the instructions below. If you have got access skip this group of instructions and go to the next steps.

Get into administrator account:
1.) When starting the computer, press F8 continuesly until you see a black screen with writing saying how would you like to startup windows.
2.) Go to safemode with command prompt and click enter until you see the bootup screen(windows logo...).
3.) It should have the administrator account along with the one that you have locked. Go into the administrator account and if there is a password on that you'll have to know it from the company that gave you the computer because they generally put a password on it.

Change Password:
Once you're in the account you'll see a black screen with writing.
1.) type in net user.
It will come with a display of user names.
2.) With exactly the same format as on the screen(Uppercase/Capitals), type the users name after net user and a star as a new word after the name(e.g. net user Tommy *)
3.) Just type in the password you want to change it to and confirm it by typing it again.

Once you're finished just type shutdown /r and it'll reboot like windows normally does.

Please tell me if this was useful.

I want to change my password in way2sms....how to change it

If you encounter any problems associated with Way2Sms login, Just use the forget Password link on the official site to reset your password.
  • Primarily, go to the homepage and hit the Forgot password link illustrated below the password input box.
  • There are two alternative ways through which you can recover your personal account. You can either get your password through SMS.
  • Alternatively, you can also receive your account password through a missed call (Toll free number).
  • Just enter the mobile phone number associated with your way2sms account.
  • Input the random captcha code to prove that you're human and hit the Submit button.
  • You should receive your temporary account password though a text message or an automated voice call.
  • After receiving, you can sign in without any hassle. Make sure to choose a secure new password after retrieval.

Find Passwords Without Programs

Almost everything on a computer or on the Internet requires passwords.
If you are like most people, between home, school, work and your social networking, you have a host of passwords.
So what happens when you cannot remember your most basic passwords, such as your Windows password?
There are programs that can find passwords for you, but there is a way to find them without a program or software.

Open your computer's Start option.
Click on Accessories panel. Under this, you will see the program "Run," and click on it.
You will have a black window with a typing bar that is displayed DOS Mode.
Write down your passwords for future reference.
Type in "cmd" in the blank, then press the Enter button.
You should then be given a screen that looks like the old Disc Operating Screens, just a blank screen with information.
You will see the words "Account information."
Type "netuser/user" and press "Enter."
Computer passwords are a key to our computer and online privacy.
Look at the list of all your computer's programs that appear on your screen.
Pick the program that you wish to change the password for, and after that program name type in "netusername", hit space and and click "star" key.
So if you're Bob, it would read "netuserbob *".
Be sure and put in the name you use for the specific computer you are changing passwords on.
You can then create a new password that will allow you to get back into the program.
If you have forgotten more than one password, you can repeat the process for other programs.
Do not exit the black screen but simply go back to the other program's names and repeat the same process with "netusername *",
Enter, and new password.

Vista boots just Black screen with cursor even in safe mode

Yes, this is a known issue with Vista. You need to back-up your data, format your hard drive and re-install Vista from the beginning.
There is really no use trying to repair it: it is damaged.
After you re-install Vista, do not forget to install service packs from microsoft.com.

Start Menu Picture Disappeared Suddenly

Turn the Welcome screen on or off It sounds as if you accidentally turned off the welcome screen. Here's how to turn that function on and off:

To turn the Welcome screen on or off
You must have a computer administrator account on a computer that is a member of a workgroup or is a stand-alone computer to turn on or turn off the Use the Welcome screen feature. Logging on at the Welcome screen is not available on computers that are members of a network domain.
  1. Open shortcutcold.gifUser Accounts in Control Panel.
  2. Click Change the way users log on or off.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To specify that users log on to the computer using the Welcome screen, select the Use the Welcome screen check box. A user logs on to the computer by clicking his or her user account name on the Welcome screen. If a password is assigned to the account, the user is prompted to type it.
    • To specify that users log on to the computer without using the Welcome screen, clear the Use the Welcome screen check box. The Welcome screen will no longer appear when you start the computer. To log on to the computer, type your user name (and password, if you have one) in the standard Log On to Windows dialog box.
note.gif Notes
  • To open User Accounts, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
  • Fast User Switching is available only when the Welcome screen is turned on. For more information, click Related Topics.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you require further assistance.
