Just bought the same Sony turntable. It will record but I get no sound.

    I thought I was alone.

I'm running Vista Home Premium with an Athlon 64x2 processor.

I can record but I can't monitor the sound while recording.

Also, unless I un-plug the USB cable my speakers won't work for any other sound application.

    Exact same problem as the rest of the posts. Using a Sony PS-LX300USB with Windows XP Home SP2 I get no sound at all - I can't play direct and can't listen to anything while recording. No sound from any other applications (i Tunes, Windows Media, web sites) while the turntable is plugged in. As soon as I unplug the USB cable from the turntable the rest of the system returns to normal. Checked out the Sony site but it was no help;

Go to control panel, sound audio devices, hardware , USB Audio Device Properies, Properties, click the + next to Audio Devices USB Audio Device Properties, make sure that is highlighted, click do not map through this device, apply restart program. Under device properties make sure sound playback is set to default driver ie: Realteck Ac97 audio etc... Hope this helps

For those of you using the LX300USB ... to have "other sounds" go to control pannel / audio settings and chose your regular sound card as the default device for playback ... But I'm still stuck with the record monitoring ... but it works on my other laptop ... strange isn't it ? Hope this could help Emurga

You cannot connect the turntable via a microphone port. You need to connect via a USB port. If you have not got a USB port to connect it as the others are in use, you can buy an extension USB socket which, will allow you to put more devices via one USB port.

Appears to be installed properly but doesn't record

When you first connect the turntable, Windows XP (and Mac OSX) will often select the "USB Audio Codec" as the audio input and output for your entire system. Since your turntable does not have speakers, audio will not be heard from your programs until you tell Windows not to use the turntable as an output device. Here's how to change these settings so that your internal sound card will always be used for playback whether or not your ION TTUSB is connected via USB:
    For Windows:
  1. On the bottom left of your screen, select the "Start" menu.
  2. Select "Settings" then "Control Panel".
  3. In the window that opens, select the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. (If you don't see a choice called "Sounds and Audio Devices," choose the "Switch to Classic View" option in the panel on the left of the window, and the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon should become available in the list on the left.
  4. Select the "Audio" Tab at the top of the "Sounds and Audio Devices" control panel window.
  5. Under "Sound Playback," choose your internal sound card as the default device. This varies by computer but should not be set to "USB Audio Codec" or "Microsoft Sound Mapper".
  6. Under "Sound Recording," select "USB Audio Codec" for your default device.
  7. Check the box titled "Use only default devices".
  8. Click "Apply"...then "OK".

    For Mac:
  1. Open your Hard Disk.
  2. Open your "Applications" folder.
  3. In the "Applications" folder, open the "Utilities" folder.
  4. In the "Utilities" folder, open the "Audio MIDI Setup".
  5. In the "Audio MIDI Setup" under Audio Devices, set:

    • "Default Input" to "USB Audio Codec"
    • "Default Output" to "Built In Audio"
    • "System Output" to "Built in Audio"

Now, all programs, including Audacity, will only use your internal sound card for audio output.

Is there a mac os x driver available anywhere for the sony ps-lx300usb turntable?

You do not need a driver for mac... just plug the usb cable into your mac... go to sound settings in system preferences and set USB to default audio input device... then install audicity... it is free and open source... play your record and hit record in audicity. done.

ION TTUSB10 turntable plugged into Toshiba laptop,

Maybe the output is not good enough for line in on laptop try mic in, then double click the sound icon down bottom right where time is, goto options, properties, then recording inside of recording make sure all boxes are ticked so you have all options like mic wave stereo mix line and so on, click ok, now make sure what ever you have the turn tables pluged into is selected as your recording device and not muted try again, once this is all ok ., it should work. hope this helps. also make sure your software you use to record is also set up same. take care

Home stereo audio problems

Could be a bad patch cord, a setting on the mixer, a faulty mixer (unless it works ok with other amps), or a dirty control on the Sony amp if it has analog controls. Have you tried connecting other sources to the Sony?
