I cannot print as the paper does not seem to be feeding through. I am not getting any error message, lights flashing, just no printing and a message "data remaining". The printer makes a "whirring sound" like it's going to pick up the paper and print but then it just doesn't.
I have tried turning the printer off, opening the back cover, blowing inside the printer....
Can anybody help??

Re: Paper not feeding
Is this a top feed - that is paper loaded on top at the back
bottom feed from a tray underneath?
Top feed take one sheet of paper and gently push it down whilst the printer is trying to grab it.
Tray feed - take tray out make sure no paper fragments are in the tracks and find a nail board and gently abrade the pick up rollers.

i know you stated you put the paper in correctlyin the printer but if the thermal reactive side of the paper is not facing the print head the thermal paper won't print on the wrong side of the paper. it will load into the printer and seem ok but the heat on the wrong side of the paper will not react and show any writing. Can you try turning the paper over in the printer feed holder so the other side of the paper faces the print head and give it another test .
review this to determine your problem.. If all else fails simply unplug your printer wait a minute and plug back in. Handling Error Messages

At the head you said 'paper thickness position'and then you seems to have ignored that and did all the other things.
Is there an adjustment for paper thickness, a lever perhaps.
It does seem to be with the paper feed or paper presence detection.
Take a look around, is there something stuck in the paper feed track?
Can you have pass a piece of paper through without it rucking up?
Do these things see what happens
