Kitchen aid heavy duty 325 watts mixer won't turn on

Was looking for an adjustment on mixer bowl height. Removed both black plastic screws on each side;obviously nothing to do with that adjustment! I'm thinking the "brushes?" are supposed to go back in a specific direction. Make sense?! Need help!

On my K5SS mixer, the brushes are aligned with the sliced off corner at 11 o'clock on the left and at 5 o'clock on the right. So the real key is in the suggestion from Mazlynn detailing the use of a flashlight to determine where the little tabs are located inside the brush holders.

I had the same problem with my mixer. The solution I found on another forum worked for me. The brushes have to go back in facing the right direction. If you look at the brush, you'll notice that it's a square with one corner shaved off. If you shine a flashlight into the hole where the brush screws in, you'll notice there's a little bump that sticks out of one corner. You need to put the brush in so the notched corner matches up with that little bump. Hopefully that will work for you as well!

If the brushes don't match up - the mixer won't work. The brushes each have a little notch. The left notch (looking at the mixer from the front) needs to be at 11 o'clock and the right notch needs to be at 1 o'clock.

Sandyneck again, In my previous comment, I made reference to "notches" they are in actuality small triangular bumps. These triangualr bumps need to be at 11 o'clock on the left and at 1 o'clock on the right.

If you take off the big bottom plate (held in by four large screws), you will see that there seems to be no way to adjust the bowl height. Looking inside the column. you will find that the bowl "rests" move within a metal cut-out in the column and cannot go any higher or lower. Sorry.

I used for 1st time. My cookie dough turned black. Also now have large bump up in middle of bowl.

Take it back to the shop, it sounds like head height adjustment is incorrect from new. I hope you didn't tighten a screw by the inside of the hinge that looked loose. that's your head height adjustment. There is a cone shape at the bottom of the bowl if that's what you think is the bump.

The screw underneath the head of my kitchen aid mixer is tight, but the head is still wobbling. It isn't a beater adjustment--I already tried that. The head of the mixer is tilted forward a bit--in

When you have the head lifted up the screw you can see in there from the front in the middle by the hinge is the head height adjuster. You need to set the height correctly now so that FLAT PADDLE just clears the bowl. Unscrew it anti clockwise to raise the head. Once that is done turn the machine upside down on a towel and check that the locking screw on the hinge pin is tight, it\'s right up inside the pedestal.

Kitchenaid stand mixer 5SSWH 325 watts. How do I adjust the bowl height? Beater is too far from bottom of bowl. Thanks! Cas

There is a screw at the bottom of the motor head (flat head) you usually can't see it because of the top rim of the mixing bowl. hard to see and hard to reach, it may also be hard to turn due to "gunk" from mixing stuff (egg butter flour sugar) turn the screw counter clockwise to lower the motor head clockwise to raise it, you may also have the wrong size beater, it is not an uncommon problem, if you are the original owner and you have the original beater it should fix your problem with the adjusting screw, however I am not clear as to your model a 5SSWH would actually be a K5SSWH, which stands for kitchenaid 5 quart solid state white mixer, if this is your model number and you have the correct beater size then the adjusting screw will work to lower the head down, adjust it down using the stir or slowest speed just untill you can hear the beater "Ding" against the bottom of the bowl, then back it off a quarter turn to adjust properly. Hope this helps, let us know

It sounds like you have two problems. First, the black marks are usually because of a reaction between the beater and certain chemicals used in dishwashers. Try washing the beater by hand and scrubbing it throughly to remove any residue. If this works, don't use the dishwasher again. You could also buy a plastic coated beater.

It also sounds like the bowl height needs adjusting. There is a screw just under the head for this.

I've the 325 watts its 110V kitchen aid and I

You will need a 'step-down' transformer with a rating of at least 500 watts (~500 VA), a primary designed for 220 Volts and a secondary rated at 110-115 Volts. This type will have four terminals or leads and isolates the input from the output.
There is a non-isolating type called an 'autotransformer' which has one winding with a tap (total of three terminals) roughly in the middle. I use this type for certain devices but it is not as safe as the first-described type.
If you are living in a foreign country that uses the ~220 Volt standard, you can sometimes get one on 'semipermanent' loan from the local utility.
