You can install driver detective whether you are on the internet or not, by downloading it with an internet accessed computer saving it then copying it onto a disk or usb stick. Put it on your computer and install it, it will still check your computer for outdated drivers and drivers that need updating.. Make a note of the drivers that are needed, and use an internet based computer to download the drivers that you need and then copy them to a disk and install them on your computer

I hope this helps

my apologies, I ran this program on my sons computer completely forgetting that i had already set up his wireless internet connection. It was because I manually downloaded individual drivers that he needed that confused me. I have however downloaded driver genious from here http://www.driver-soft.com/download.html it loaded and ran and just showed me the hardware that had drivers out of date. If you run this program then make a note of the hardware that has out of date drivers and then close the program. Because it will then rely on the internet to find and update the drivers for you. Instead of this you can make a note of the hardware that has out of date drivers, using your model and make of computer, graphics card, sound card etc.... you can then search for the drivers. If you have problems locating the drivers that you need let me know the make and model of your pc and any other hardware you may have and I will try to locate the correct drivers for you (please include your version of windows)

    I hope this helps

when the program first opens it will say the drivers database has not been updated for 30 days. Would you like to update it now, click on no. This will then open the program. Click on start scan. This picked up 8 out of date drivers on my other machine that does not have the internet. But I will add though that my other machine works fine and i will not be updating the drivers on it. If you are having problems with your machine and need a particular driver please let me know

My computer seems to disconnect the internet

Wireless or Hard Wired internet connection ?

When you set up a dial-up Internet service connection on your Windows computer, it comes automatically configured to disconnect itself after a predetermined period of inactivity.

This means that if you walk away from your computer and forget that you're online, your internet connection will automatically shut itself down.

If this feature isn't as helpful as you assumed it would be, you can turn it off using the Network and Sharing Center.

Click "Start."

Click "Control Panel."

Click "Network and Sharing Center."

Click "Change Adapter Settings."

Right-click on your dial-up Internet service icon.

Click "Properties."

Clear the check box next to the "Auto Disconnect" listing on screen.

Click "Apply."

The auto disconnect on your computer Internet service connection is now turned off.

also if its running slow

Slow computers that persistently disconnect from Internet access may have issues with the wireless setup or if on a wired connection, there may be a problem with the Ethernet cable or port.

Troubleshooting connection and speed issues can save money rather than taking the computer to a technician or repair shop.

Additionally, some firewalls and security features can make it difficult to access certain types of websites.

Before spending money to have the computer diagnosed, try running through the most common, basic causes of connection issues.

Consider the type of site you are trying to access.

High-traffic sites such as gaming sites can sometimes be affected by high volumes of users accessing or attempting to access the site at once.

Test this by attempting to access the site at different times during the day and evening; peak hours for games that typically appeal to children may be during the afternoons on weekdays while games for older or more mature audiences will see high traffic at night.

Check your Internet connectivity and determine whether you are using a wired or wireless connection.

In the lower right side of the computer screen there should be an icon displaying the Internet or network connection.

Wireless connections are displayed with connection bars similar to those seen on cell phones while wired connections may show the end of a plug next to a monitor icon.

Reset the router if using a wireless connection.

For most home routers you simply unplug the power cord from the router box, wait a moment and plug it back in.

You may have to restart your computer to reestablish a secure connection.

Access the router through the computer and check for updates. Some routers offer firmware updates that fix some connectivity issues.

While updating the router, check for Internet browser updates as well as any critical updates for your computer's operating system.

Verify the computer uses the most up-to-date version of the Web browser available.

Try a different browser. Internet Explorer is the most commonly used Web browser, but not always the best for every site.

Try downloading another Web browser such as Firefox, Opera, or Google Chrome and test the sites there.

If the connections are still disconnected and the Internet speed seems slow, it may be an Internet issue.

Wired Connections

Trace the Ethernet cable from the Internet modem to the computer if using a wired connection.

Unplug the end of the Ethernet cable and check that the plastic head is secure and that there is a click when you return the plug to the modem; do the same on the computer end.

Inspect the Ethernet cable carefully as it runs from the modem to the computer.

If the cable was tacked down with a staple gun or other attachment, check the cable to verify it wasn't accidentally pierced.

Additionally, check for bends, twists or worn areas along the cable.

Measure the length of the Ethernet cable.

In general, cables longer than 100 feet tend to receive poorer signal transmission.

If the cable is longer than 100 feet, replacing with a higher quality cable or moving the computer or Internet modem may resolve connection issues.

Hope this helps.

Tip

Set up and Use Internet Connection Sharing

Hi,

To enable Internet Connection Sharing on a network connection

You must be logged on to your computer with an owner account in order to complete this procedure.
Open Network Connections. (Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double–click Network Connections.)

Click the dial–up, local area network, PPPoE, or VPN connection you want to share, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.

On the Advanced tab, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
If you want this connection to dial automatically when another computer on your home or small office network attempts to access external resources, select the Establish a dial–up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box.

If you want other network users to enable or disable the shared Internet connection, select the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection check box.

Under Internet Connection Sharing, in Home networking connection, select any adapter that connects the computer sharing its Internet connection to the other computers on your network. The Home networking connection is only present when two or more network adapters are installed on the computer.

To configure Internet options on your client computers for Internet Connection Sharing

Open Internet Explorer. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.)

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

On the Connections tab, click Never dial a connection, and then click LAN Settings.

In Automatic configuration, clear the Automatically detect settings and Use automatic configuration script check boxes.

In Proxy Server, clear the Use a proxy server check box.

Good luck!

My Acer Veriton Z290 G, I cannot find the wireless network adapter. When I try to set up a profile to connect it, it says no connections available. I can connect through a wired ethernet connection.

Hi,

The best way to check if the computer can access to Internet is to boot the computer to "Safemode with Netwroking", to do so, restart the computer and as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select "Safemode with Networking" from the Advance boot menu. Try to connect to internet. If you are able to connect to Internet then the issue is with the firewall on you computer, contact the firewall manufacturer or settings. If you are still unable to connect to Internet, then the internet setting are not correct, you may need to contact the ISP.

Thanks
Jitha

I have a DSL502T ADSL Router, and have bought a new emachines computer. I can not connect to the internet. The computer has a wireless connection loaded but I want to connect by dailup Please could you help...

You are a bit confused with the various components required for Internet connections.
If you have a dial-up connection with an Internet Service Provider, all you do is connect your computer's modem port to the phone line and dial the phone number of your Internet Service provider.
If you are connected to the Internet Servise Provider by ADSL and have a combined ADSL router and modem then you connect the phone line to this router/modem. If the ADSL modem is separate component then the phone line is connected to the ADSL modem and this modem is connected to the router with a LAN cable and the computer is connected to the router with another LAN cable. If the route is wireless and the computer has a wireless card then you don't need a LAN cable between the router and the computer.
If you are connected to the Internet by ADSL, to secure your Internet connection and configure your computer so it can connect to the Internet, please follow my instruction - click on this link :-

Can't connect my Compaq SR2020NX to the internet

Make sure the cat5 cable coming from the modem is going to the computer and bypass the router for now.

If the computer is able to connect to the internet then you know its a configuration issue with the router. If it still can't connect to the internet then you know its an issue with the computer, might be a driver issue with the computer at that point.

Call your Internet service provider and have them tell you the steps on how to configure your router to work with there internet service.

I AM UNABLE TO ACCESS INTERNET THRU MY HYBRID APPLE MAC DESK TOP-

Go into network set up a shared Internet connection using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) You can use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to share an Internet connection among two or more computers on a network. First, you need one computer, called the host computer, that is connected to the Internet and that has a separate connection to the other computers on your network. You enable ICS on the Internet connection. The other computers on your network then connect to the host computer, and from there to the Internet through the host computer's shared Internet connection.
If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might prevent you from completing these steps.
On the host computer (the computer whose Internet connection you plan to share):
  1. ?id=microsoft.windows.resources.shellexecutetopiciconClick to open Network Connections.
  2. Right-click the connection that you want to share, and then click Properties.getcontent.aspx?assetid=18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b&documentset=en-us&renderkey=signed1 If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Click the Sharing tab, and then select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection check box.

Ihave a ms7025 mb and i performed update with driverdetective and now ethernet is not seen

I would suggest that you don't use DriverDetective at all. Most third party driver installers can cause major issues. I am recommending that you perform a System Restore to a point before you installed Driver Detective. Then visit your PC's or motherboard manufacturers websites and download the drivers from there.

A friend asked me to download drivers for his Toshiba Satellite M45-S2692 laptop, but the best I can locate is...

Goto this page
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

Select the portables -> Satellite -> then the model

There you will find all the drivers for the laptop

to burn them to a cd first download them all then you can use the windows build in burner.. to drag and drop all the downloaded files into the cd drive (I assume you have a drive which can burn a cd) Then select burn these files into the cd.

IF you need more assistance with this let me know.
