Cannot get into my computer at all

I cannot get into my computer at all. When I power up it looks as if its going to turn on but then a screen pops up thats not like the regular screen to log in to your user account. I have Windows Xp Professional. In the Username space it says "Dell" but has no password. THe PC wasn't password protected since I am the only one who uses it. Any suggestions? I cannot access anything in the computer b/c I cannot log into it at all. Help!

Re: Cannot get into my computer at all

Try logging in with a different user. XP pro comes with the administrator user by default! When you're given the prompt to enter a username! Enter the username Administrator with no password! If an error comes up then that means that the administrator account has a password on it! also it could look different cause a setting was changed in Control Panel->User Accounts->Change the way users logon Use Welcome screen was unchecked! I think what you are saying is that the laptop starts up and reaches a Login Box but when you try to login, it doesn't work! If its not that then please let me know! regards, babb

How to turn on pop ups for asus?

Look closely on your computer screen, and the very small area at the end of your favorite star, you should see a small strip area with a small X click this area and it should ask you whether you want to allow pop-ups or not, press allow pop-ups, and this will eliminate this problem.

When I start up my laptop, a black screen will pop up askin me to do a safe start or start it normally, both options have the same result, when the windows XP logo pops up it acts like it is going to load...

HI yellowlizard

these things always happen when you turn off your computer the wrong way (turn off the power directly from suiz or short circuit occurs) or damage to the operating system in general.
What you need to do is to repair your operating system using the operating system CD, do the chkdsk / r and fixboot.

Bought 3 Eee PC 900/XPs. Bought recommended Crucial 2GB SODIMMS to upgrade memory for all three machines. After upgrade and just after Windows XP loads the screen goes crazy. Crucial suggested...

pop battery out ...... re-start with cord power , then shut down completely. pop battery back in after 5 minutes .....and try that may also want to check your power settings .

The initial screen freezes; start up stops completely.

Take out the battery and the mains power, turn the laptop over and remove the ram cover, look for the ram and take it out by pushing the metal lugs outwards so the memory pops up, it's now ready to remove, the ram (memory) looks like this >>>>>>

Once the memory is out look very close in the memory bay for 2 brass triangles, they will be in the shape of a diamond, get a flat head screwdriver and short them 2 pins out, this will clear the CMOS, put the memory back in, turn the laptop over and plug in power & hit the on/off button.
When it comes it will say that bios settings are wrong so go into the bios and set the time and date, save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and hopefully boot up with no more problems.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Screen dull & automatically goes into hybernate

The dim screen is going to be either the lcd or inverter. As far as constantly going into hibernation mode. go into power options and make sure where it says turn off monitor and turn off hard drive are set to never. If that doesn't work then that mean you might have a virus, trojan, etc on the computer.

No power up

Hello Vincezo:

Try this trick...remove battery...unlplug from wall...hold the power button on and then plug into the wall.

Let me know if this works for you. If not you may be looking at a hardware failure (mainboard).

Good Luck my friend.
