Re: not reading any games
It will probably cost around £40-50 to get fixed you can email the link below for a quote on what they would charge. You would also have to add postage and packaging on top of the cost. Personally, I would opt for a new one just incase the repair does not go exactly as you would like, at least you would have a year guarantee on a new one and could also take out further insurance.

try compressed air.
more then likely its a hardware issue.
try getting an R4DS card and download games from www.filestube.com if you dont want to repair it.
you can have 50+ games on an sd card and not have to lug around all those games anymore
this is a problem with the pins inside could be dirty or dusty ether way you will need to get a cleaning fluid ie 100% alcohol cleaning fluid us a clean cotton bud inside the slot and use gently as not to damage pins, if the pins are heavy soiled you may need to get a fiberglass tipped pen wich is used to clean up poor contact areas on boards and other electrical circuits
I can give you some answers but might not work. See if the slot where the Ds game suppose to go needs to be cleaned.Take a pice of cotton from the cutip and put it on your stlyer(DS stick).Clean inside of it.Stiil dose not work and have a warranty go get the ds repaired.DO NOT PUT LIQUID IN THE DS SLOT(WILL NEVER WORK AGAIN TILL REPAIRED).
had this problem, i looked into where the game goes and one of the little metal teeth was bent, so i took a long toothpick and gently pushed it back over now it works fine. Be careful that you dont break it off though.
