I am trying to see other people from my webcam and it is not working at all. what do i have to do in order for this feature to work

    I can see the others but they can't see me. The video says it has started but the screen is black.

    Seems several people have problems with this product. I get a black screen. I can see myself and take still pictures but can not connect with others who have webcams nor can they connect with my webcam.

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

There are a select few cameras that have a webcam feature on it, please make sure to check if your camera has this feature.

The touchsmart features do not work. the webcam dodes not work also. the drivers are there working properly for the webcam, the software is not installed.
Install the software. Try setting the BIOS to Factory Default setting.

How do you make the webcam low light compensation work?
Hello iarharmandee. In order to fix your issue with the low light compensation feature, please follow these quick steps:
Open the included webcam software as bundled with your Acer laptop.
In the program, click on the Properties dialog box. In the Properties window, click on the Camera Control tab. To use the Low Light Compensation feature, be sure to select the Low Light Compensation check box Hit Default to make your adjustments. Click OK or Apply to save your settings.
You should be up and running now with full functionality of the low light compensation feature.

How do i work the webcam on the studio one 19 desktop dell? I see it on the computer but there's no button to press to get it to open and/or work or even get to it.
You should be able to activate the webcam with any webcam enabled software. There's no buttons or anything to "turn it on" as it will turn on with software that needs webcam.

For example, try using it with the video chat feature built into Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, or Windows Live Messenger. They should all detect the webcam automatically and start using it.

Your computer is not connected to the network when cam talk
In order to use the video call feature both parties have to be in Yahoo Messenger 10.
If you both have Yahoo you can use the webcam
If you are cross chatting - eg Messenger X MSN, only basic IM will be available

There a couple of things you can check - Firstly can you access your webcam via a shortcut and access any of the normal features, the easiest thing to check is will it take a still picture?

If that doesn't work - Go to control panel from your start bar and check device manager, can you find your webcam in the list of devices and does it appear in cameras and webcams?

If you can access the webcam features the problem is not related to your web cam but the software.

Tell me how you get on with the above, and there are a few more simple things to check or change to make sure you can get your webcam in MSN.

Acer crystal eye webcam is always "busy"
Try uninstalling the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam Application first... After that uninstall the webcam driver... Then reboot the computer... Reinstall the software(Acer Crystal Eye Webcam)... I think it will automatically install the webcam driver. See if the webcam work... Make Sure U have the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam installer packagebefore u uninstall the software! If that still didn't work please provide more info(Laptop model, Operating System).

Webcam driver
unfortantly because you have downgraded from the most advaned microsoft program there is, you dont have all the fetures that vista has.
in order to get the features back, you need to reinstall vista again.

Acer crystal eye cam will not work with yahoo messenger
check the features in the yahoo messengers i believe version 8 for vista will not allow you to use a webcam if you have vista operating system. Im not sure if version 9 allows you to or not. Like i say you have to check out the features for your version of yahoo and see if it allows you to use the webcam based on what version of windows you are using
