Question about Beltronics Pro RX65 Radar Detector

Need Help with my radar detector

I recently purchased a Beltronics RX 65, and the voice doesn't work. It seems as if it is always in the mute mode, and I have reset factory settings, turned off auto-mute, and still nothing seems to fix it.. Can anyone give me any advice?

Bel/Escort now use a special "high temp" speaker which resolves issues of blown speakers. They can replace the blown speaker inside your RD.

I tried mine with the ear jack and it worked. I believe you are correct about the speaker

Your speaker is bad more than likely,the heat and cold affect the little speaker and eventually fry need to replace the little speaker.

What does it mean when detector powers on and service required

When powering up, the detector goes through a short diagnostics test to make sure everything is working as expected. If there is a problem detected during this time, a message like the one you have displayed will appear. You should contact Beltronics Customer Support to arrange service with one of the methods listed at the bottom of this post.

No sound on my vector 940

Beltronics is now using a special "high temperature" speaker which resolves issues with speakers blowing due to high ambient temperatures. Contact Beltronics and schedule service for your V940. Not only will Bel replace the speaker with the newer model, but they will also test and calibrate your V940 and install whatever the current firmware is for your V940.

Bel STi Short or Loose Connection

This most likely is due to a blown internal speaker which has shorted across its voice coil rather than becoming an open circuit. Bel/Escort now uses special "high temp" speakers which resolve any failing speaker issues due to higher temperatures. I assume that your STi is out of warranty. Yet, it will be worth it ($80) to have the speaker replaced and to have your STi flashed with the latest firmware which also gives the STi a true audio ramp-up rather than just the original slow or fast audio beeps to indicate the strength of the detected radar. The new firmware also includes slight performance enhancements, and includes better filtering for Autoscan mode. This latter enhanced Autoscan filtering makes the STi noticeably quieter while driving around town.

Service needed

The internal self-calibration procedure has repeatedly failed, causing your RX65 to display the Service Required message. You need to send it to Bel for repair.

This is a somewhat common problem that occurs when a strong voltage spike while starting your car damages the radar detector. Bel can fix your RD. Once you get it back, always start your car first before powering on your radar detector. Likewise, power off your radar detector before turning off your car's ignition.

did you check thet fuse in the unit's power cord? Does the lighter socket work in your vehicle? Does the detector work in another vehicle?

Bel RX65 Radar Detector

Call Beltronics tell them you have an RX65 out of warranty. They charge about $65. When I did mine I sent them only the detector and they also set me a new cord & suction cups.
