Question about Mitsubishi WD-52327 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Phillips Model 60pp920217f

Will my pictures color and clarity be any better if I change the Convergence IC's. I am expieriencing a green halo effect and also a double image of green at the bottom of the tv. The reds and blues seem to be all I get on the screen the rest of the colors are way off..like the yellows, whites and especially the greens....Will changing the ic's solve this problem? My TV is a 52# Mitsubishi rear projection - it has green downward arcs on the top of the screen and upward arcs on the bottom of the screen both with green halos

I expect the answer to your question is YES! The convergence amplifiers are a common problem in many projection sets. When you search for the replacements you should find that the originals have been superceded by improved parts. Also be aware that when these parts fail, they will usually damage a resistor in the convergence yoke return path. The resistor must be replaced with one of the correct value or the convergence, though responsive, will be out of range.

Double Blue Halo Effect and Blurry Blue Picture

thats a problem with the Blue CRTs coolant needing replacement. If you look directly into the blue and green CRTs while its playing you should notice a bunch of crud inside the lens indicating that the coolant needs replacement. You can get the coolant replacement kit for a phillips at the following link which includes the coolant and instructions

Phillips magnavox 55" projection

The coolant needs to be changed in the CRTs ( picture tubes) this is a very common problem with all phillips and magnavox rear projections. Changing the coolant will restore the color and brightness and stop the halo effect. You can get the phillips CRT coolant kit at the following link and it includes all the coolant and the step by step instruction CD with pictures. Its actually a fairly easy job. Heres the link its listed under the repair Kit category.

1 5 oz bottle should be enough for each tube. The small picture is caused by bad opto-couplers on the large signal board. Let me know if you need more info on the couplers and where to get them

No. your problem is related to the coolant in the green CRT has congealed with bacteria and needs to be changed. Thats what causes the halos and general poor picture and color quality. The blue should be changed also. The red for some reason doesnt seem to be affected by the bacteria problem. This is a common problem that happens with all projection TVs phillips and magnavox TVs

You may have to do the full convergence alignment for all three CRTs, as outlined in the service manual for your model. Do you have the full service manual for your set which outlines the alignment and convergence proceedures?

My phillips model 60pp920217f has a horrible picture...no green to the color

The green CRT coolant has congealed thats whats giving you the green halos. Change the coolant in the green and blue and your set will be fine. red is never affected so the red coolant should be fine.

PHILLIPS BIG SCREEN TV IS BUTTERFLIED

Are the colors out of alignment and unable to converge back? If so its the convergence ICs need replacing. If the convergence isnt out of alignment you have whats called a pincushion problem. If you would like a link to where you can obtain the service manual for this model let me know.

Phillips 60PP920217F Convergence Problems

Sounds like you are on the right track, yes you need to change also the return resistors, they will be located close to the convergence amps you have replaced. There should be several resistors standing up around the IC's, you can lift one leg and check all resistor and the ones with same color should be the same resistance. Another way is to just replace all of them. I don't have a location for you but I have replaced a similar set 51pp9303h/17 and I think the boards are similar. So if you are this close then by all means replace all the resistors, You can go to MCMelectronics, Bluestar-online.com, Tritronics, etc. To get part and also you can buy schmatics on line. Don't quite remember site but you can search. I think it was 11.99 for downloading for my set. So hope this helps.
