Could be a few causes to the problem.
1. Make sure cd try is clean. Make any white squares do not have dirt, ink, glue, paper pieces stuck to them.

2. It also has to have enough space behind the printer for the cd tray to go out to till the end. Mine just needs about 6 inches to the tray wont hit anything behind it and make it come back out up front.

This happened to me when there wasn't enough space behind the printer for the tray to stick out as far as it needs to.  I just moved the printer and it worked.

My Epson Artisan 730 Printer keeps ejecting its CD/DVD Print tray, saying that there is a cd there. There, of course isn't. Can anyone help me? I really need to print.

My husband adjusted the CD/DVD tray, then we selected the icon that looks like a wrench on the printer's message window, then "restore default settings" on it. Turned computer off then on again, and it FINALLY started working again :)

Epson Stylus PHOTO R220 red lights keep flashing

I hope this will help you :)
* Green Power light flashes- The printer is receiving a print job, replacing an ink cartridge, charging ink, or cleaning the print head.
* RED paper light is On- If the CD/DVD try guide is open, close the CD/DVD tray guide, load paper, then press the paper button. Your paper ran out or multiple sheets loaded at the same time . Load paper and press the paper butoon to resume printing.
* RED paper light flashes- Paper is jammed in the printer. Press the paper button to eject the jammed paper. If the light is still flashing , open the cover and remove all paper, including any jammed or torn pieces. Then reload paper and press the paper button to continue printing.
* RED Ink Light Flashes - One or more cartridges are low on ink. Check the message that appears on your screen to determine which cartridge is low, or follow the instructions in " Checking the Ink Supply". Make sure you have a replacement cartridge.
* RED Ink Light is ON- One or more cartridges are out of ink or not installed. If you have just installed a new cartridge, it may be incomaptible with the printer or incorrectly installed. Reinstall it or replace it with the correct cartridge
* RED Ink and RED paper lights flash alternately- The CD/DVD tray guide was left open when you turned on the printer or when printing on paper. Just simply close it/
* Green Power Light is Off; RED paperand RED Ink Lights flashing- Paper may be blocking movement of the print head. Turn off the printer, then open the cover and remove any jammed paper or other foreign objects. Turn the printer back on again. Or it may have an internal error. Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, then turn it on again.

I'm having trouble printing on cds (they won't load) with my epson stylus photo r220. I've followed the directions, lined the tray up properly. Set the settings for cd/dvd. Tried old and new software.

Depends how long you have had your printer, epson are well know for the rollers that takes the paper in getting worn, and so does the cd/dvd tray, eventually you have to push the tray in by hand to get the thing started, somtimes changing the disk tray helps, if youve got a spare one,

Epson 220 not printing cd labels anymore

Clean the white areas on the tray with a light solvent cleaner like windolene/windex liquid. Also try giving the tray a helping hand as it is started to be fed into the printer

Error message "tray set up not correct"

I had the same problem. It's easy to fix.

Simply pull your printer away from the wall about 8". The tray needs to stick out from the back of your printer when it loads. If it hits the wall, it will not work properly and eject. Just try moving your printer forward enough so the tray can stick out from the back and you'll be fine.

CD/DVD tray problem

Well now that is interesting. Imagine all a printer can do is squirt ink What it sqirts ink on does not matter. the printer cant tell- only you can tell whether the result is good or bad So why it is only partially printing has nothing to do with the disk as such. Go to www.fixyourownprinter.com and put to them your question.

Printer cd problem Epson R220

Hey Nala1, Try a print job again, but this time try helping the tray into the printer with a little push. Be gentle and do not try to force it in. If the tray is taken in and works fine, you should try cleaning the rubber roller at the front of the machine that pull the tray in. If the tray feeds part way and the print head runs back and forth a couple of times before the tray is ejected again, try cleaning the white marks on the tray. Use something like windowlene (windex) and a piece of kitchen paper. Also, if you have the old style tray with the thin clear plastic strip on the leading edge, make sure it is straight and in good health.
