GE top load washer does not agitate or spin.

The washer will go through the entire cycle. I realized that something was wrong when I opened the
machine at the end of the cycle and the clothes had not moved and there was still
soap on the top layer of clothes. The outer tub was tilted to the left. I took the
panel off and found that one of the suspension rods was off of the frame. I put it
back on - hoping that the problem was solved. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

I Checked:
Suspension rods: All 4 are attached now
Door/lid switch: No loose wires. Not sure if that is the problem.
Drive Belt: Still attached. I can turn the wheel (?) and the belt moves the tub. No
oil residue. (I read that oil on the belt was bad?)

So I ran the cycle and watched the washing machine... here is what I saw:

Fill: The washer fills up with water just fine.
Wash: Nothing. No motor, no noise. Then after 5-8 minutes, the motor turns on and
pumps the water out of the tub.
Rinse: The washer fills up with water just fine. Then after it is full of water, the
motor stops. Then nothing. After 5 minutes or so, the motor turns on and pumps the
water out.
Spin: The motor runs with the empty tub, but the tub does not spin.
The cycle ends when the spin cycle is over.

Help! What could the problem be?
Thanks!
Jen

It's about 2 - 3 years old. How long do they typically last?

If the washer pump doesnt remove the water from the tub it will not go into the spin cycle. Check the drain pump to see that it is working. Clothes can get stuck in the pump and cause this issue

if it has a computer board on top of the motor then you need to reset it to do that you will need to unplug your machine for about 2 minutes then plug it back in then open and close your lid 5 times this will reset it

GE top loader not agitating

Your agitator splines are probably stripped out.
Remove the agitator and check the spline grooves. And the agitator coupling on the shaft.

GE WHDRR418G1WW Washing Machine will not agitate or spin/rinse cycle

The ge wcxr1070t uses a coupling under the agitator . There is a cap on the top pop it off and remove the screw if you see one , otherwise just pull up , the coupling is under the agitator check to see if it is stripped . dr fixit in the repair service directory will have it if bad
