I bought a Go Video Sonic Blue DVR 4400 Combo DVD Player/Recorder and VHS Player. I have some old home videos (I have an adapter to use) to place into the VHS side. I would like to transfer the home videos over to the DVR side and make DVDs. I purchased my machine second-hand and it did not come with a User Manual. How can I accomplish this task? Please e-mail an answer to me at [email protected] - thank you. Unless, the answer comes across this website pretty fast, in that case, I will wait at this web site for a response. Thank you.

This model is a DVD player only. It does not record to DVD's. You would need to get a model that has a DVD recorder.

SOURCE: Go Video Unlock Code

check the menu settings or (setup) on the dvr 4000 to see if it has options to enable or disable parental lock or to change region settings to region 1.

also the dvds you made are they +r or -r on what brand dvd record disc on dvd-r this may solve the problem but use a quality brand disc like memorex dvd-r it is compatible with many players and recorders also make sure the disc you made on the recorder were finalized.

SOURCE: go video dvd recorder vhs combo vr3845 - won't read discs - says unknown disc

FIRST UNPLUG THE UNIT FROM POWER !!!!! The problem is dirt/dust/****/crud/stuff on the tiny, little ***** laser lens. Remove the case screws ( 2 on each side, some in the back) with a correct size driver. The cover must be pulled open at the bottom, side to side a tiny bit ( use a hand on each side) to allow the cover to lift up at the rear, it must come up quite a bit as if it is hinged at the front and THEN pulled back out of the front panel. Set the cover to the side. The DVD reader/Burner is covered with a small black cover, it is held on with two TINY screws, STOP!!!! Get yourself the CORRECT size driver at Fry's or Radio Shack, DO NOT get cheap here!!! Remove the two screws and find the two plastic grip tabs, push them to release and lift the cover. There is the laser! It is a tiny blue lens about the same diameter as the tiny screws. find a very, very well washed CLEAN 100% cotton T-shirt. The softer the better, get 70% or higher rubbing alcohol, pull the fabric over the tip of the finger and wet with the alcohol. VERY GENTLY wipe the lens 4 to 5 wipes and the 3 wipes with a dry spot. That should clean the lens. USE NOTHING ELSE!!!!!! The lens tracks back and forth on two tiny bars. The stuff I use is WD-40 wet on a Q-tip swab. Go to a safe place to spray the WD-40 on the Q-tip. The lube should drip. With the Q-tip apply the lube to the tiny bars at the ponts of rider contacts and wipe the bars too. Put the top of the burner back> BE CAREFUL!! Use a magnet driver and then repower and try to read a known good dvd. You will have to do this more in the future, you understand, dist dirt etc in the air. Put the top back on. Enjoy.

Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

Problems with Philips vhs recorder/dvd player

You only need coaxial cable to pick up TV stations broadcast via an aerial. If your TV has sockets to connect via HDMI or SCART, then any players can be connected via them. So if the adapter box picks up TV signals, you connect the main aerial cable to that and it should have a coaxial out socket, that should be connected to the aerial in of your TV. If you are recording to an analogue video from the adapter box, then that will need to be connected via a scart socket or other connection.

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

I have the Zenith XBV443. I'm trying to copy saved programs from my dvr on my tv to dvd discs. My neighbor has a simular model yet we can't find out why I'm unable to do the same. What do you think is the...

Hi there,

The Zenith player/recorder will be able to record to DVD from an external input such as a PVR. The most likely reasons you are unable to record successfully are:

1. The TV / DVR is not connected to the Zenith recorder correctly. You need a separate cable for recording. You cannot record using the cable that is connected for playback of DVD discs.
2. The TV / DVR does not have "VIDEO OUT" sockets
3. You have not selected the correct external input on the Zenith recorder

If you can let me know the brand and model number of your TV / DVR and how it is connected to the Zenith DVD recorder, I can let you know why it isn't working, how to make it work, and even draw you a setup diagram, if required. It's very difficult to give you the correct answer without these details.

You Zenith DVD recorder will record from the DVR - the real question is, can the DVR send video to the Zenith DVD recorder . . . ?

BElectric

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

Presidian DVD/VHS combo player/recorder model 16-163

make sure you are using the right input. Also the VHS might have macrovision copy protection to prevent copying. you may need a video stabilizer box if you have macrovision. If its a home movie VHS then its an input setting on your DVD recorder. it may only record from the internal vcr not an external but I am not sure
