If you have internet access trought the modem and if you're not connecting to the internet with the router it might be a configuration inside of the dlink router. Usually tech support wont help you with the routers. but i can help you with this.
if the connection its set up and the wireless signal its not strong enough yes you'll need to replace the router, that's what happened with mine :S. The signal was really weak.
I don't know what type of internet connection you have. If you have cable internet connection, you can copy the mac address of your modem to your router - that's what you call, cloning. If you have DSL connection, you can just obtain an IP Address from the modem to the router. If it's an Internet connection that is requires authentication, you can use the PPPoE type of connection. Clear all temp internet files and run this programme
Start>Run ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter.
Get into the routers settings(probably 192.168.2.1) and ensure in the Lan settings that 'DHCP Server' is on and wireless is enabled.(you might need to be connected by RJ45 lan cable first)
If it's a 125mbps router change settings to 54mbps to try that speed first(especially as your wireless cards will be 54 mbps)
look in Mac address Filtering is off.
Look in the DHCP Client list and see if your pc's were allocated ip addresses, if so it should allow an internet connection.
Go to both your pc's wireless cards properties and under TCP/IP properties ensure obtain ip address automatically is checked.
Restart both pc's and the router, disconnect cable and try wirelessly
