What is the model of the printer? You can probally download the driver from the manufactor's website

The CD has the driver software. It's what communicates between the PC and the printer. You have to install the driver or you won't be able to use the printer.
Go to the printer manufacturer's web site, and download the driver software. You can put it anywhere for the installation; but you might want to copy it to a CD for safekeeping.

Have bought new Hewlett Packard computer Model #200-5220. Tried to install a Lexmark X2330 printer. Went into control panel ''install a printer' - highlighted Lexmark, but in the next column the model...

Disconnect the printer from the computer. Insert the driver disk that came with the printer into the CD/DVD player of the computer. Follow the prompts and install the software for the Lexmark. When it is finished installing, connect the usb cable to the computer and try printing a test document.

If you do not have the disk that came with the Lexmark, go to the manufacturers website at www.lexmark.com and click on support. Then find the download software/driver option and enter your model of printer. Then follow the prompts to download the file to your computer and install it. when it is finished installing, connect the printers usb cord to the computer and try printing a test document.

Some drivers do not come with your operating system and need to be installed before your printer is connected. Once the drivers are loaded the pc will automatically recognize the printer once connected.

Lost my manual, need to change the ink cartridge, help

  1. Look at the indicator light on your Lexmark printer. You'll need to replace ink cartridges when the light flashes or turns red instead of the standard green.

  2. Purchase Lexmark ink cartridges. You can buy the brand name or purchase a generic version that is compatible with your printer. You can shop for low cost ink cartridges from ABC Ink.
  3. Step 3 Remove the old cartridges from your printer. Grip the sides of the Lexmark ink cartridges and pull it out. Dispose of the ink cartridges in a recycle program like the one at Staples or save the cartridges for refill.
  4. Step 4 Install the new ink cartridges after removing the protective tabs. Avoid touching the IC chip when installing the new Lexmark ink cartridges. Replace the cover of the printer.
  5. Step 5 Allow the Lexmark printer to run a nozzle test. Print several pages with the new ink cartridges to make sure you installed the ink cartridges correctly. The indicator light should return to a solid green color.

Hi, Had my printer on old computer, when I went to put in on new computer the alarm light comes on and nothing else works.

Before connecting the printer to the new computer you will need to install the drivers using the printer disk.

If the printer disk is too old, or if you have misplaced the disk you will need to go to the printer manufacturer website, find support page, enter printer model, and download updated driver.

Connect printer only after installing driver.

If the printer is too old, it may not be compatible with Vista or newer operative systems.

To reconnect the printer scanner

I'm going based on you having Windows XP, NOT Vista.

1. Unplug the printer from the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and go to Start > Settings > Printers
3. If the printer appears, remove the printer. (http://malektips.com/xpwpr0010.html)
4. IF THIS IS A USB PRINTER:
   a. Plug the printer into the wall. Make sure all the appropriate lights come on.
   b. Plug the USB cord from the printer into the computer.
   c. Skip to Step 6.
5. IF THIS IS A NON-USB PRINTER:
   a. Turn the computer off.
   b. Plug the printer into the wall. Make sure all the appropriate lights come on.
   c. Plug the printer into the computer.
   d. Turn the computer on.
6. Windows will most likely try to install the printer automatically and you will not need an install disk.
7. If the printer does not automatically install, you can download the drivers from here: http://driverscollection.com/?H=PIXMA%20MP160&By=Canon

Good luck!
