Connecting an audio/video transmitter to Yamaha HTR 5830 Amp

I would like to connect an audio/video transmitter to my Yamaha HTR 5830 Home Theatre Amplifier. I have a small speaker/amplifier system which I wish to use outdoors and this would achieve outdoor sound without having to run speaker wires etc.
The HTR 5830 has several RCA connectors on the back but I am not sure if I can achieve a suitable connection for the av transmitter?
I would appreciate your help, thanks.

If you want to get sound out to speakers use the KEFF WIRELESS SYSTEM as this will not break up or cut out.
Hope this helps.

We cannot get sound through the yamaha amplifier while watching a dvd? TV and Foxtel works but we only get sound from the tv when we are watching a dvd. we have a Sony Bravia TV and a Yamaha HTR6130...

You need to connect the unnamed DVD player's audio to the receiver according to the player's manual and then assign the digital input on the HTR (if applicable). THAT would be in the HTR's manual (page 6).

I'd run the DVD's best video straight to the TV. Nothing good comes from having unnecessary cabling or interconnects zig-zagging across the room.

I have an RCA home theatre...model rt2910. I have hooked my PS3 via HDMI to the TV for the video and used an optical cable for the audio. I set the PS3 to send video via HDMI and audio via optical cable....

You should have the HDMI plugged into the Home theater unit. The theater unit then is attached to the TV using the HDMI out.
The home theater unit passes the HDMI through to the TV while playing the audio for you.
You will likely need to select the correct source on your RT2910.
Here is a link to the manual.

See the section entitled "Connecting to HDMI Components" for an illustration of what I have described above.

Try running the audio from each video source (NOT the TV, which is an output, not a source) to the HTR digitally so you'll get the best mutichannel sound possible. Then you can turn the TV speakers (assuming it has them) off for hi-end watching.

IF you have a cable running from the tv to your system from the audio output you may have to turn on or turn up the output in the tv menu, some SONY tv s are like this. If you have done this and are useing a amp like a ONKYO or YAMAHA etc you will have to go to the input assign in the setup menu and tell the amp were the cable is pluged in and which type.
hope this helps.
