Epson R200 print job suddenly slows down

Sounds like your printer is printing in draft mode. I have photoshop and the R2400. When I click on Print with Preview in Photoshop I get a window that sets the print size and so on. Then I get a window that picks the printer so I choose R2400 and the click on the properties button to get the R2400 interface. At that point I choose "Best Photo" to tell it to print at the highest quality.

Most ink jet printers have a self cleaning you can do.
The fact that you're getting shades of green usually indicate that the red is not printing properly.

I finally fixed it by printing in glossy mode on a thick and rough paper used for manual drawings. A bit of dust came off from under the print head and now it prints clean again.

The epson R200 isn't supported in Windows 7. That's why the status monitor doesn't work.

Hi, I recommend doing a nozzle check first to ensure all the colours are printing fine.
Within the advanced option of the printer driver you have an option to select greyscale, it might be worth enabling this feature.
If you are using glossy media the problem might be down to the ink reaction with the glossy resin as this can cause casting or bronzing. To check this try printing on matt paper.
If you are printing from Photoshop check your colour matching settings, the easiest way to do this without messing to much is try printing from another application, I would recommend Epson's own, Easy Photo Print.

Epson R230 print slow at PHOTO, very slow at BEST PHOTO, if you do not need photo quality prints try printng at TEXT AND IMAGE for faster printing and the quality is still good. Also try to lower the resolution of that you are about to print, high the resoluton images takes longer time to print. Hope this will help you, Good luck!

check the program on the computer on disk and see if it will tell you anything

You can always use the control panel to set the printer quality to the desired level.

Control Panel - Printer - Right click on your printer - Properties.

it is possile that your driver is for XP only, if you can confirm that it is running very well previously w/c i suspect try downloading a letest version in Vista platform,

wrong driver can sometimes do this
