SOURCE: paper jam
1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.
If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
Good luck..

SOURCE: PAPER JAM
The problem sounds like your rollers have lost their grip. Remove the paper tray and tip the printer up. Push the red lever on the left of the printer down and you will see the feed mechanism with two wheels. Remove the rubbers on the wheels and turn them inside out. Replace them on the wheels with the worn side now inside and the 'sticky" side out. You should get at least another couple of years worth of use before you need to replace them.

Make sure that the printer is turned off.
Open the printer cover by pressing the latch on the left side of the printer and lifting the cover up all the way.
Warning: Opening the printer cover exposes the fuser, which is marked CAUTION Hot Surface Avoid Contact. Be careful not to touch the fuser. If the printer has been in use, the fuser may be very hot.
1. CAUTION Hot Surface Avoid Contact
Remove the developer cartridge.
Caution: When removing the developer cartridge, never touch the developing roller under the flap; otherwise, print quality may decline.
Remove the photoconductor unit.
Caution: Never touch the photoconductor unit's light-sensitive drum; otherwise, print quality may decline.
Remove the paper from the paper path.
Note: If paper is jammed at the fuser, grasp the bottom of the paper and pull it out.
Reinstall the photoconductor unit, and then the developer cartridge.
Close the printer cover.
Tap the edges of the stack of paper on a flat surface and carefully reload it into the MP tray. (Do not reload curled or wrinkled sheets.)
Printing automatically restarts from the page that jammed. If the Paper light stays on after removing all jammed paper, open and close the printer cover to clear the error.
