MY SPACESAVER MODEL #JVM1650WBOO8 TURNS OFF EVERY 2-3 SEC.

EVERY TIME I TURN ON MY MICRO IT SHUTS OFF AFTER 2-3 SEC AND PROMPTS ME TO "ENTER THE TIME, AND ENTER DATE" THEN I DO AND THEN I RESTART IT AND 2-3 SEC. LATER IT SHUTS OFF AGAIN AND PROMPTS ME FOR THE SAME THING. THIS CONTINUES OVER AND OVER. EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE IT WILL FINALLY WORK, BUT ONLY TEMP. MY HUSBAND HAS READ THAT THE PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY THE "MAGNETRON'. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A NEW ONE AND HAVE FOUND YOU CAN BUY A "KIT" WOULD THIS REPLACEMENT MAG. WORK:?

Microwave stops working and starts beeping with an F3 error message whenever we boil water on the stove. We need to unplug it for awhile. Later we can plug it back in, set the time and date, and it will work fine.

Have the same exact problem. Works 2 seconds and shuts off, then prompts to reset everything, time, date, etc. Never had a microwave go out like this and it is only about 2 yrs old.

I have the exact same problem with my GE Micriwave model JVM1650WH03.

Same problem on JVM1650WH03. Starting to get annoying. No problem with the fires that others on the internet have mentioned. How much is this control board thingy and can i replace it myself for less than $100? GE sucks. I hope they don't have the same issue with their nuclear missiles and power plants!

Okay, Dude, Check this out. I Unplugged the unit and removed the front vent cover, then the grille above the control panel, then slid back the control panel. (Now here's the not so smart part: I never read the warnings about the capacitor thingy, but fortunately nothing happened. Please realize though that there are parts inside that are energized with 10,000 volts that can turn your heart off pretty effectively.) That said, I noticed that some wires were right up against a coil thingy so i moved them aside. I also noticed that the ground coming off the capacitor was kinked really bad. I didn't touch it, though. I also saw some transistors on th control panel (beer-can like things the size of a pencil eraser, that were bent. I bent them straight. Any wires that appeared to be bent or up against components, I repositioned. I then put everything back together and have not had a problem since. I have used the unit 20 times since. It previously had been blanking out every other use. But please heed all warnings. This thing can kill you with its voltage or cook your brain with its magnetron if you don't put it back together right.

I have the same problem w/ this 3+ yr old piece of GE junk. I too removed the front key pad cover (after unplugging) and carefully removed the wire ties and repositioned the wires. Heed all warnings as I used leather gloves and never touched any bare connections. I also used needle-noze pliers. Once I reposition, it began to work again. I suspect this problem will resurface. My problem is a wiring issue. I did all this w/o removing the unit from above the stove.

Check this ouit first before you go out and buy a new mag:
The mag's little cooling fan probably broke loose and fell off the fan motor's shaft. The fan motor will still be running when you hit start but there is no fan on it. The fan keeps the mag cooler. The mag will heat up too much in a few minutes and then shortly the oven automatically shuts everything down when the mag gets too hot because the fan blade is just lying in there, Fan needs to be glued back on the shaft after the shaft is roughed up a little. Disconnect the plug-in wires (note where they go on), wiggle and remove the fan motor from the oven. I used contact cement to hold the fan to the shaft. the fan motor is located right behind the control panel. You have to first remove the grill, then the control panel's screws. It's not difficult to repair. No new parts needed. Poor engineering design of the cooling fan shaft. If the fan blade has not fallen off, try this: put some tin foil inside a baggy that is big enough to shield the control panel from the rest of the oven.

This is the control board that is failing and it can be ordered , if it were the magnetron then it would just not heat up the food
the control board is resetting when the microwave is started because of a faulty chip on the board

No heating, turntable does not turn, but clock & lights work.

Check to make sure the plastic on the shelve holders or tuntable guide did not wear and expose metal. If these holders or brackets are wore and exposed metal it shorted out your micro wave. They need to be replaced and a fuse needs to be replaced inside the control panel,

Heat doesn't come on in microwave

If you have the experience with discharging a capacitor and you have a (VOM) Volt Olm Meter. Unplug microwave, discharge capacitor, and check the resistance of the two thermal cut-off discs by removing the lead and set VOM to RX1. If you don't get a reading of zero, replace the discs. For part go to www.partselect.com and enter your model number. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange

Having to constantly reset clock, and after doing so micro shuts off

Sadly, we hear of this over and over.

This is usually due to a defective or loose magnetron causing electrical interference and disruption in the control circuit board.

If your magnetron was recently replaced, it may have loose mounting nuts or bolts or the wire mesh RF gasket was not installed or got pinched.

It may also need a new high-voltage diode and stirrer, and the cavity may be affected.

GE had a campaign (but not a recall, mind you!) covering several models.

Details are in their bulletin at http://207.234.249.73/mwd/ge_mw_mag_kit_bulletin.pdf

Even if your model is not on the list, the same problem can occur, requiring a kit. I just think the difference is that GE has stopped paying for the repairs.

The parts kit (that GE used to pay for) is part # WB27X10489 and is shown here: http://207.234.249.73/mwd/wb27x10489_ge_mag_stir_kit.jpg

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. It's very helpful when troubleshooting.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

GE Spacesaver doesn't heat

if you are as lucky as i was...i have a ge spacesaver model jvm130...same problem. first unplug unit and check fuse on the "power control module". if fuse is ok...unscrew the screws holding the "power control module" in place...carefully tilt module and see if a solder joint needs to be re-soldered. my problem was the solder joint under the front plug (5 large wire plug). you may have to unplug the three connectors to the board to get access to bottom. this is the second time i had to re-solder...last one was several years ago though. best of luck tennisrme

Microwave shuts off after 2-5seconds

The problem is most likely the magtube, it takes aprox 3 sec for the tube to energize and then it kills the microwave. If you drop the control panel away and start the microwave 90% of the time it will cook fine.
