Question about Dual XDVD8265 Car Video Player

Open Question

Dual XDVD8265 I've installed this model in my car and it worked GREAT for roughly a week and a half. I pulled the unit out to hook up my amplifier, did not touch any of the other wiring, then put it back in place in my dash. When I turned the car on again my screen was all white. Everything audio still works. I've tried the reset button to no avail. Also tried to use the manual to guess approximately where the buttons would be on the touchscreen to try and reset the video settings to factory. Nothing works. I checked all connections in the back..everything seems fine. I've also completely removed and reinstalled the unit. NO avail. I bought this product off ebay and I'm concerned about how well the customer service will be to replace or repair the unit. Are there any tricks of the trade to fix the screen?

Open it again and check the ribbon cable for cracks, the one that get drag in and out every time it open and close. Because it is a defect for Pioneer too, and Pioneer would replace it free. Goodluck.

If there's only a single sub-out RCA cable, you have two options. The amp may have a manual switch that puts it in Mono mode, in which case you only use 1 of the 2 RCA jacks. The other option is to go get an RCA splitter. This will take your single sub-out cable and feed the exact same signal to both left/right of your amp. Either way, you get the same result. If the 1200W amp is for your sub(s) only, you should set the high-pass filter and subsonic filters to help your bass "hit harder" and cleaner.

Parking brake wire can be grounded. If you need to turn the barking brake on and off, install a toggle switch in line with the ground.

The radio keeps going back to old stations

Do you have the yellow wire connected to a constant power source. The yellow wire controls the memory and has to have 12v going to it even with the key off.

E-Brake Problem

you have connected it correctly, that is just how those units work. there is a pattern to the ebrake for it to view video.

1. start with the ebrake off and follow this pattern.

2. on for 2 secs, off for 2 secs, then back on

or you can just put a toggle switch instead of connecting it to the cars ebrake wire. wire as follows

1. use a 2 wire switch.

2. connect one wire of the switch to ground

3. connect the other one to the ebrake wire of your dual unit.

4. then you would do the same pattern with the switch as you would have with your ebrake. this will allow you to view while in motion without your ebrake engage

hope this helps

No sound out of speakers. st (stereo) lights up on display and everything else works but sound

If the car had sound with the factory radio prior to the installation on this unit, then the problem is probably a factory amplifier. Some systems simply need the blue remote wire hooked up to turn on the amp, but others require adapters while others require the amp to be bypassed. Post the year, make, and model of your car, and I can try to help you determine what you need to do next..

If you can find a separate tv tuner with remote the run it through the unit rear input. But stand alone tuner is rare if it even exist. Search Ebay to see if you can find one. There is another way by hook up a small portable tv with video/audio output and use an adapter from RadioShack to send the signal to rear input of the unit, but picture and sound quality is only as good as the reception of the tv. Goodluck.
