Question about HP Deskjet 6940 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I bought the printer because I love HP and it had a very high ppm ratio. It is so slow it's crazy. I have been using it this was because it does not jam and works fine but is very frustrating. I was considering replacing it when I realized I had never asked anyone why it was slow.

Can you help?

Duh. It is slower than normal. I have a HP 940 that kicks the 6940 in the is faster. Something must be wrong. When I read the stats on that printer it should be almost as fast as my Laserjet 1020.

I am having the same problem and was actually looking for a solution. This is a new printer and replaced a 6540. Wish I had my old one back. Also, this new one seems to print out of whatever tray it wants to. I had a document and I told it to print it twice. The first copy came from the bottom tray, the second came from the top. Why??????

Copying extreemely slow

Things that change printing speed are
-Color vs. Black and White Low 4 PPM High 25 PPM
-Quality DPI Dots per Inch. Usually 100 200 300 DPI
-General speed of the make and Model
-Photo Printers are very slow but produce a clear image.

You can set DPI in setup on the printer
Copiers are just the speed they are

Changing copy speed of 70 ppm to 60 ppm in the Aficio MP 7001

Why? I don't understand why you need to slow the printer down. Now If you are using card stock or thicker paper and are trying to prevent damage to the media, make sure you have set the paper type and weight correctly when you load your trays. You also must make those changes in the software on your laptop/PC. If you don't, it will default to printer settings and never slow down. The device will slow down and open the gap between the hot roller & the pressure roller in the fuser to prevent creasing/damage to the document.

My HP 5610 is printing extremely slow.

Very simple solution: The cartridges still have ink in them but printing is very slow. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a wet paper towel and wipe the print head on each one until the ink flows from each head. Usually it is the color cartridge because it is used less than the black one. Once ink is flowing again, reinsert the cartridges into the printer and your normal printing speed will return. This worked for me, no thanks to the "experts" or trouble shooting guides..

Several things can physically affect the speed of the printer.

What is the make and model of the printer you are using?
Please define the what you mean by slow.
How is the printer connected to the PC?
How complex is the page that is to be printed?
What is the rated PPM (Page Per Minute rating of the printer)
Are you sending Postscript data, PCL data, HTML data or PVXL data to the printer?

Installation issues

Hi, On the driver installation, you may want to try: 1. Boot your PC without the printer connected; 2. go to Start, Printers & Faxes; 3. Uninstall all instances of your printer (might be 2); 4.Shutdown; 5. Connect your printer and power up the printer and the PC; 6. Allow Windows to autodetect and auto-install. On the number of pager per minute printing, 36 ppm black, 27 ppm color are only possible in Fast Draft mode according to HP printer Data sheet. Hope this be of some help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.

HP PSC1350 All-In-One Printer

This printer prints at a really slow 1.4 PPM, and if it's doing that, it means that the buffer in the printer is full and it must print what it has in memory before recieving more of the page, if it's a really high resolution picture, it can take forever to print. This isn't a defect at all, it's just something that you can't fix that makes this printer useless for an office. I have this printer too, I usually just go do something while it does its thing...
