you should have a USB lead with a headphone jack on it which attaches to yr computer or to a u s b plug socket as this is the only way u can charge up a shuffle i pod..to download music onto it u need an mp3 converter like N C H it has all you need to get music movies and more it converts them when you have collected all the music you want.
MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable tothe MP3 player and the computer. You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.Click on this link for instruction on converting musicfiles to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files
You will have to download and install Itunes to your computer..
Once you have Itunes installed, you will put your CD in the CD drive and download the MP3's to Itunes.
After you have your music downloaded to Itunes.
You will hook up your Ipod to the computer and Itunes will recognize it and then you can download your music to your Ipod.
I will include a link to Itunes

You can buy a USB cord at Walmart or any other retail store like it. Except for the iPod all other mp3 players have a universal plug on them to be able to charge it or download music. If you buy one of these USB cords, you can then plug it into your computer to charge it and put music onto it. There is also a Plug in that has a USB slot which you can purchase if you choose not to plug it into your computer, but prefer to charge it on a regular 110 wall outlet.
ok here we go i dunno how i figured this out lol but it took a while. okay so ur gonna go to control panel, device manager, and uninstall the driver for mp3 player. then disconnect mp3 player and reconnect it to reinstall mp3 player. it will recognize it as emerson mp3. right click on it (im running xp) go to properties, click on the tools tab and click on check now on the error checking and select both options of automatic fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. then hit start and it will start the process of fixing the file error. it takes a couple minutes and when its done disconnect the mp3 player n turn it on and voila!!! it works again. if u need more help u can e-mail me at email@example.com. hope this helps yall so u dont throw them away
