Question about Samsung LTN1785W 17 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television
We bought the above 17inch flat screen to mount on the wall in our kitchen. The advertisement through Amazon said it was wall mountable and the directions have a page containing directions about using the wall mount kit (which it says is sold separately). But they don't give the name of it. There are no holes on the back that fit the wall mount kits we have. Does anyone know if there is some bracket that must first be fitted to it before using a wall mount??
Yes, 2 studs is fine. You might want to goto Home Depot or Lowes and pick a bag of Hilti Toggles. They are toggle that go into the sheetrock and let you mount things to the wall without the need for a stud. They come in a few different sizes so make sure whatever size you buy, that screw fits in the mounts hole. They work very well and I have mounted 50" plasmas using these, with no studs involved.

For a true flush mount installation, you will need to recess your connections (i.e. power, HDMI, S-Vid, etc). Most tvs have the connections coming out of the bottom to allow flush mounting.
If your wall is not drywall, or you really don't want to bother with the expense of recessing your outlets and cable connections, just get a swivel arm mount. It will allow the TV to sit a bit further from the wall and still look ok.
Go to www.monoprice.com for great deals on mounts. I have 3 of them in my house and they are excellent quality.

Too little or too short? I've installed a few of these mounts and they should have come with a variety of different size screws. Is it possible the mount is not rated for your TV? Samsung should be able to provide you with thread size. I thought they were standard metric machine screws. Just watch length. That's where the damage could occur should scvrews go too deep into set.
