Question about Marantz PMD660 Digital Voice Recorder

1 Answer

"completed" remains on display

I just brought out my PMD 660 after a long period of inactivity.  When I powered it up it seemed fine, and the battery indicator indicated a full charge.  However, after I pushed a couple buttons the display read "Completed," and nothing I do will change the display.  Not even turning the unit off!  There is absolutely nothing else on the screen.  The only reference I find to this display is on page 32 in my manual where it says the word will display for a second.

How do I shut it off

Digital micrometers with LCD displays usually do not have a power on.off feature. Older units have an "on" button only that is used to turn them back on after a predetermined time-out or period if inactivity to conserve battery capacity but newer Mitutoyo mics cannot be turned off.

Dell Studio 1558 warning battery cannot be charged (still at 100%)

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

I got my phone wet while travelling abroad so I took out the battery etc and let them dry for a while. When I put them back in the phone seemed fine but the next morning the battery was completely broken,...

You cant try this...get a bowl of dry rice, put the phone in and cover it up, leave the phone in for 48 hrs. Dont touch it.
Sounds like there is remaining moisture. if this doesnt resolve the issue you will need a new phone

I have a PMD-660 digital audio recorder from Marantz. It's one of the early models, but I have been very gentle with it. The unit works fine when plugged into AC, but no longer consistently works in...

I've worked on many of these units. There is a trick to opening these up without damage. I don't have the service manual in front of me at the moment, but can state that there have been issues with the AC/DC modes that usually is relatively easy to fix. Stay tuned for more details. I'll check the service manual later today.

2007 Yamaha Rhino 660 dies and pops the 30amp fuse on Relay

I would carefully go over your wiring, especially any you may have disconnected during the head gasket swap, and check for a loose ground first.

If all your connections are good, then take a voltmeter to your battery, see what it's putting out. (If you can load test it, even better). Sometimes, when a battery get's messed up, it'll start overloading and put out too much power, and burn up fuses/wires.

660, hangs up totally after ca. 40mins use

Hi Martin,

It sounds like a corrupted firmware update. Please go to this site:

http://gpsinformation.org/perry/nuvi/

I believe the latest firmware version for a 660 is v4.7. You can try reflashing the firmware with v4.7 or trying an earlier version. Let me know if this resolves your issue.

Also, the Nuvi can lag if you have large picture files on an inserted SD card.

Generally speaking electronic devices display some sort of battery charge level indicator and even if they're charged will not be harmed if they remain on the power supply cable for longer periods of time. The charge time is 3 hours roughly with the unit turned off.

Monitor Turns off

Have you turned off the hibernation?, that would be your first priority. Check the settings again to make certain in the Power configuation has been set to never for all settings for both power abd battery for the time being use them and then try again?
