Re: I have an hotpoint aquarius washing machine. I think...
You won't get a new board cheap, unless it is a second hand one,not recommended.
Apart from which, the board has blown for a reason, usually caused by a faulty motor, so if you bought a new board, chances are it would blow again
Long term , probably cheaper to buy a new m/c.Your only other option is that if the m/c is under 5 years old, you should be able to get it repaired under the 5 year part guarantee, you pay for labour and call out.

This sound like the main control board has blown and this is due to the motor shorting out, if you isolate the power supply and remove the control panel you will be able to remove the pcb/module and inspect it for signs of burning or split tracks if you find this is the case usually it is cheaper to replace the machine than purchase a pcb and motor.
Hi.
I suspect that the top control board has blown , this happens when the brushes wear out in the motor, and short circuit the motor armature, which in turn blows the control board.
Either way it is likely to be an expensive repair, my advice to you would be to buy a new washer if it is more than 5 years old.
I know from experience that this is the most likely course.
my lights are all flashing on my control panel, its takes water in then pumps out straighaway doesnt wash or spin i have changed the brushes so i know it isnt that please help it only about 3 years old
These are available from EMW electronics who sell reconditioned modules at around half the new price.
Check their website for more details.
Hope this helps.
Thankyou for using Fixya.
Hi there .
Yes ,it more than likely is the brushes in the motor, or a faulty heater element.
Access is by removing the lower rear panel, there you will see the motor and element.
You can test the heater in situ with a meter, but you will have to remove the motor to check the carbons.
With it tripping your electrics, there is a distinct possibility that it will have blown the board in the top of the washer.. To check this,
Remove the dispenser and undo the screws, remove the 2 top screws located behind 2 plastic covers at the front of the top, and remove top cover.
With the selector dial in the off position, slide the console panel to the right and ease forward.
There you will see the board. Spring the plastic retaining lugs back that hold the board in place ,and ease the board out..You will then be able to see if it has blown, look at the right side.
If it has blown , then you will have replace it, as they cannot be repaired.
Hope this helps you solve your problem.

This indicates that the wash thermistor is "Open Circuit" and I think it is situated on the heater assy at the back of the machine.
Check the wiring and contacts between the thermistor and the PCB. If you still get the fault it could be the Thermistor ( which means replacing the heater ) or a faulty board.
If it is under 5 years old - Call Hotpoint as you have a 5 years Parts Guarantee mind you the call out is £89.98 but thats cheap if it happens to be the board!
