Hello Fortylions,

Yes this is quite easy to do, just simply turn over your laptop and remove the 4 screws in the memory cover. Then, using a small, thin screwdriver or knife, place the tip of screwdriver/knife under the covers lip and you can pry off the cover.
It wont pop-off, so just start on one side and keep working around and it will eventually open up.

Thats all there is to it.

Hope that helps you, so please leave a rating so I know if it has.

Good luck.

Just upgraded memory ram on acer 5100 now having startup trouble. Will startup then shuts down...tried memory diagnostic, status memory ok.

If you just upgraded memory and are having problems, the system memory is more than likely causing the problem. Try either taking out the new memory and leaving in the old (if you added a memory stick), or placing the old memory back in the computer and try starting up. Your memory could be either incompatible or it could not be seated properly.

So, if you replaced all of your memory in the upgrade, place the old memory back in and try to start up. If you added memory, then just remove the new piece you put in and try to start with only one card. I don't know how much memory you have.

Try this and let me know what happens.

I want to fit some extra memory to my Acer Aspire 9300. Which door do I open on the bottom of the notebook. thanks.

You can adding RAM to your Acer Laptop by following the below steps.

1 . Unplug your laptop from the AC power source and remove the battery.

2 . By unplugging the power connector you will be safe from shock.

3 . Locate the memory access door for the main memory module. It should be on the back of your computer.

4 . Unscrew the memory access door and remove it.

5 . Remove the RAM module by applying gentle outward pressure to the securing clips on either side of the RAM module until they release.

6 . Rotate the RAM module upward to a 45 degree angle and slide it out of the slot.

7 . Align the new RAM module with the tab in the connector slot.

8 . Slide it firmly into place and gently rotate it downward until it clicks into place.

9 . Replace the memory access door.

10 . Replace the battery and power up the computer. It should recognize the added memory and reconfigure itself for use.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.

How to put in new memory on my acer 1691 notebook

Laptops are notoriously difficult to upgrade with one exception. Luckily, that exception is one of the quickest and best ways to improve the performance of your Acer laptop. Adding more RAM will speed up your laptop and boost its performance. Be aware, though, that Acer is also notorious for its "hidden memory compartment" under the keyboard.

Adding RAM to Your Acer Laptop
  • Step 1 Unplug your laptop from the AC power source and remove the battery.
  • Step 2 Protect your computer from static electricity by grounding yourself with an ESD wrist strap or through another grounding method.
  • Step 3 Locate the memory access door for the main memory module. It should be on the back of your computer.
  • Step 4 Unscrew the memory access door and remove it.
  • Step 5 Remove the RAM module by applying gentle outward pressure to the securing clips on either side of the RAM module until they release.
  • Step 6 Rotate the RAM module upward to a 45 degree angle and slide it out of the slot.
  • Step 7 Align the new RAM module with the tab in the connector slot.
  • Step 8 Slide it firmly into place and gently rotate it downward until it clicks into place.
  • Step 9 Replace the memory access door.
  • Step 10 Replace the battery and power up the computer. It should recognize the added memory and reconfigure itself for use.

My leptop acer 4720zg physical dumping error

    1) Examine the “System” and “Application” logs in Event Viewer for other recent errors that might give further clues. To do this, launch > Eventvwr.msc from a Run box; or open “Administrative Tools” in the Control Panel then launch Event Viewer.

    2) If you’ve recently added new hardware, remove it and retest.

    3) Run hardware diagnostics supplied by the manufacturer.

    4) Make sure device drivers and system BIOS are up-to-date.

    5) However, if you’ve installed new drivers just before the problem appeared, try rolling them back to the older ones.
    6) Open the box and make sure all hardware is correctly installed, well seated, and solidly connected.

7)Confirm that all of your hardware is on the Hardware Compatibility List.

    8)Check for viruses.

    9)Investigate recently added software.

10)Examine (and try disabling) BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

    Hi there.
Take the memory back out, get a soft dry clean pain brush and clean the contacts on the memory and the slots, the re-seat the memory nice and tight, restart the machine and hopefully your problem will be solved.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Added new ram (2gig + 2gig) acer inspire 5610 and it won't boot back up. worked great before i added memory.

Unfortunately the max supported RAM size is 2GB. you cannot exceed that. Sorry for the dissapointing news!

Remove 2GB and it should boot back up fine!

Hope this helps, please rate well!

In this case myself assume that your acer do a problem in the memory, try remove and clean the memory.

    1. boot your acer without the memory. hear beep? if yes,
    Only memory has a problem, if no, then;

examine the mainboard of your acer.

If you can hear a beep then fix back the memory and start the system.

if this not solve the problem, replace the memory.

In case that it hard for you to open the laptop let the repairman do it for you so that all your problem will be examine.

    Acer Laptop problem

What must be happening is there are programmes and services running in the back ground and depending on how much memory you have installed all these things take up memory allocations. The graphics card when running just minimal programmes like word run at 8MB memory but when running games or dvd the card can run at 64MB of memory so take that off 256MB ogf memory if thats what you have fitted, minus the memory your programmes and services take it doesn't leave much. added with a processor speed of around 1.5GHZ it can make the system slow up if doing more than one thing at a time. Also check back to when this started and go to system restore and look to when it roughly started and see if windows did any updates, if so restore to before the update and see if it still happens.
