i hear ya. I've been trying for an hour to get this thing to start. I've read the manual a bunch of times and tried everything I can think of. If I don't get it figured out today, I'm taking it back.

I have the same problem. It worked yesterday, altough it was the first I had use it and it didn't turn out well because of bad flour (I think). Anyway, this morning it has been on for an hour and the paddles still doesn't turn.

Can someone help!!! I really hope this is not a big problem.

I think the problem may be that when you start your machine you are holding the start button down too long and if so then the program you selected will be cleared. It will still show the settings you selected on the face of the machine, but in effect it has been cleared, so you need to start again.

Holding the start button down for 3 seconds will clear all the settings even though it looks like the settings are still in process, but the machine just won't start.

When you reset from the settings displayed you will have to scroll through all of the settings to come full circle to your original setting again.

When you start your settings DON'T hold the start button down for longer than a second...you will hear the start beep and be on your way! Good Baking!

I press start and it just sits on prheat heat.

Many bread machines pre-heat on the whole wheat cycle. Give it up to 30 minutes and it should start mixing within that time frame.

Hi i just got my bread machine yesterday, i tried to bake a french bread put everything in and switch it on, goes for 7 mins then machine switch off why does that happen?

It should do nothing for 15-20 minutes maybe a little less to allow the dough to rise. Then it should knead again and go into the second rise before baking

The machine won't start although the light is on.

Black and Decker machines go through a slow warmup before they start kneading. That is normal. It takes a few minutes. If your machine hasn't started kneading within 30 mins. then you DO have a problem with it.

When I plug in the machine I get at dash and 2 zeros. The directs say I should see 3. I cannot get it to do anything else. Do I have a lock somewhere?

without any ingredients in the pan....after plugging in your machine,,,,push "select" button.... choose program #1.....this is the basic white bread program....now push the "start" button... your machine should start mixing either right away or within 15- 20 minutes...if it does then your machine is functioning properly.....

HI, I use the dough cycle and it takes 1 hour 20 minutes, but it actually only kneads the first 10 minutes and then here and there a minute for all together about 15 minutes of kneading. Is my machine not...

It sounds like everything is OK...machines knead a while,,,,rest a long time....knead a little rest along time etc......that resting allows the dough to rise....

Timer is working but the motor (that spins the piece to make the dough) does not. Is there any security fuse ? Thanks Michel

Hi michel amor

If you are using the timer nothing will happen until the time you set for the breadmaking process to begin occurs. In other words if it 8 am and you want your bread several hours later then your bread machine will do nothing until several hours later. If you don't want to use the timer and you just want to be sure that your paddle turns and kneads the bread go ahead and push the stop button and hold it down until it beeps. Unplug your machine, then plug it back in. Then do this:
----push select
----choose your program ( for example choose #1 basic)
---choose your crust color
----choose your loaf size 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 pounds
----push the start button
----your machine will start mixing with the paddle
----if your machine is cold it may warm up for about 15 -20 minutes but it will start mixing within 1/2 hour.........hope all this helps

I have a Welbilt ABM 4000. When I try to use it on any setting, the timing counts down but the machine makes a clicking sound and the paddle does not move.

If the ambient temp is below ideal some machines will heat up a little first before kneading. The clicking sound is the sound that all the machines make as they start to heat up. As long as it starts kneading within 15-20 minutes everything is OK.

We just bought the same one with two paddles, we waited about 15 minutes and it didn't start kneading... is it defective, should i send it back?

If you chose the "whole wheat program" it may have a delay cycle. Many whole wheat programs on bread machines Try turning it on with no ingredients in it. You won't hurt the machine doing this. If it hasn't started kneading within 30 minutes then it is definitely broken. For example one of my madhines is a Toastmaster brand. If I choose the whole wheat program it slowly preheats for 20 minutes before any kneading begins.

No display on the screen. Start and Mix in LED's are on. Have tried the 15 min unplug / reset several times. No response from any buttons???

Try holding down the stop button for more than 3 seconds. This may be able to reset the unit. You do not have to unplug it for 15 minutes to reset it, just hold down the stop button.
