Problem for Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GR Router

Problem connecting to the net

By dertis on Apr 29, 2007

i can connect my computer wired straight to the modem. But when i try to connect it straight to the router (lynksis wrt54gr), it doesn't recognize the router even thought we already connected another two computers previously to the same router (one wireless and one wired).

Hw can i make the computer recognize this router>? We already give it all the ip addresses etc from the original but still doesn't recognize the router for some reason.

Make sure your computer has a dynamic IP address. If the computer still cant get IP address from router, try to reset the router. Press and hold the reset button of the router for 30 seconds while the power is on. After that please check if your computer is getting a valid IP address from router (192.168.1.xx). If your are able to get valid IP address, try this link to configure for your Internet connection.

You router may be set to be DHCP enabled so that it allocates the ip addresses automatically to each pc, so check that the pc's network card with connection problems is set in the properties on the TCP/IP line is set to obtain an ip address automatically.

You can also try, Start>run then type ipconfig /flushdns to clear the pc ip address and dns. and restart pc.

Lastly if you pc is both network cabled and wireless, ensure one or the other is dissabled as this can confuse the ip adress alocation.
