The first thing I can think of is that there may still be a pull chain for the fan even though it came with a remote. See if you can find one a give it one pull, that should be the high setting and that's what it should be set on to operate properly with the remote. Another possibility is that there's a switch on the fan itself in order to change the direction of rotation. Sometimes that switch can get caught in the middle and the fan won't work. Give these a try.

My hunter fan light can't be turned on/off with the light switch

The switch will only turn the power on to the fan/light. You have to use the remote to dimm the light & change the speeds. You should be able to install it on the wall next to the switch so you can turn on your light when entering the room.

the remote does control the light. i think it's the bottom button, once to turn it on, again to turn it off. there should have been a blue wire connected in to the wires in the ceiling, this is power for the light. if only the white, black, and copper are connected, the light part won't work but the fan will (usually)

Fan & lights won't work

Unfortunately, you either have a faulty reciever or remote. A replacement will cost $30-$40 at homedepot2.gif. And it doesn't matter which is faulty because you can't purchase them seperately anyhow.

Fan & light kit installed. 120 vac tested with voly meter. all ok. DIP switches configured same in remote and fan. Fan nor light will come in with remote.

I assume that you know wiring because you stated that you check the system with a Volt meter. Check that all wiring is correct if you are not certain please get a certified electrician to check your wiring. Next you could have a bad fan motor. I did purchase at one time and the motor was frozen. Only other posibilities are that the remote or the receiver are bad.

Hunter fan/light with remote installed turns on by itself

Many times this is caused by stray frequencies in the neighborhood. And, sometimes changing the frequencies on the remote and receiver reduce the occurrence.

But it sounds like this may not be the case, here. If not, the receiver in the fan is the culprit and should be replaced. No danger, just annoying.

Fan is Erratic

Ceiling fans with wireless remote controls have an electronic receiver installed in the fan, which controls the light, dimming, and fan speed. Sometimes the receiver goes bad and needs to be replaced. If you have had any power outages or power surges, they may have fried the receiver. I've noticed that my ceiling fan light turns on when the power is restored after a power outage. Now, whenever my power goes out, I shut off the light switch that powers my ceiling fan so It doesn't experience a surge to to the controller when the power comes back on. I've purchased new receivers on eBay and Amazon to replace my blown remotes and receivers.

Fan and remote not working

If you haven't already done so, replace the remote's battery with a brand new one . Make sure the replacement battery is NEW AND UNUSED, AND WAS PURCHASED RECENTLY, SO IT IS FRESH. Make sure it is installed properly, making good electrical contact, and the proper polarity is observed. Was the remote dropped, sat on or stepped on? Was a liquid spilled on it? Did your pet chew on it? Are any of the buttons loose or stuck? If the remote seems ok, try removing 120 volt power from the fan by turning off the circuit breaker or fuse an your homes main electrical service box. Wait 30 seconds, then turn 120 volt power for the fan back on. This may reset the speed control in the fan unit. If it does not cure the problem, consult a professional electrician, or replace the fan, whichever is more cost-effective.

wait 30 seconds and turn 120
