If you have a salt water system, you may safely use and 'pool shock' as long as it is either sodium based or is potassium peroxymonopersulfate based. Typical liquid pool shock, or even granular shock for a salt system, is compariable to household bleach. Main difference is bleach may contain a trace of phosphates, but nothing that will harm the system. I see no problem using bleach. Just dont enter the water until the chlorine reading has dropped to or below 4ppm. Hope this helps! Pool management and chem analysis experience of 6 years.
