Does that specific DVD work in some other DVD player?
Does that specific DVD work in the DVD-drive in your computer?
Dirty disk?

In most cases when the CD does not play it is possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD . If the optical is working the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be defective.

The main motor will not work in some cases as unless the tracks are read the drive motor will not work with signal from the processor. Also in some cases the central motor base can shift and so the distance to the disc can be more resulting in low detection. You can pull up the spindle to come closer.
Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.
If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board

You most likely are not meeting the specs required by the player. Check the manual on the cd for the specs the player can resolve or use the converter on the cd to convert your mp4's wmv to meet the specs.

first of all you need to check your manuel for dvd's that can be played as in burnt. as of right no cd/dvd changers can play dvd that are burnt. cd's can be played if it states on player. only normal cd's and dvd's can be played. also check your disc for marks on them like fingerprints etc. if you want invest in a great player like sony, pioneer, i have no problem with these players.

take two out puts from your cd player and run them in the inputs of the equalizer and believe me they are going to work.Remember if the outputs from your CD player are of high note (out put)the volume should be kept at minimal to avoid the rumble.

I bought another DVD player. I found out that all DVD's don't play on all DVD brands of players. They are cheap enough these days so I decided it wasn't worth a repair bill. The Sanyo DWM-400 plays many of my store bought DVD's and not others. I never tried a home made DVD in it so I don't know how it responds.

Mabye. I would suggest either opening the unit up and cleaning thr "laser" (optical pickup) with a q-tip. Or try using one of those cleaning cds that have the little cleaner fabric on the inderside... if that doesent work something is most like wrong with the cd machanism wether its not spinning the cd or just not reading it due to a defective laser.. ampman!
