Question about Beckett Water Gardening Water Garden Accessories Pond De-Icer Model PH100

1 Answer

De-icer must have a short

I only used the Beckett ph100 de-icer for about 1 month last year and I cleaned and stored it carefully. Now, when I try to plug it in, it keeps popping the circuit breaker within the outlet. This does not happen with any other equipment plugged into this same outlet. This de-icer was a replacement for one used the previous year that would not work after storage. I am completely disgusted with this product. I paid more than $60.00 for it and between the original and the replacement, I have only gotten about 2 1/2 months use.

The best solution to ice in garden ponds is to keep the water moving as moving water will not freeze. Depending upon the size of your garden pond you may try adding a fountain. All major pump brands carry small fountain pumps that include various fountain spray nozzles/heads or you can buy the pump and then purchase a Fountain Head Kit separately. The fountain will provide 1 - movement of water at the surface, 2- aeration for the pond, 3- pleasing sounds year round, not to mention the 4- aesthetic value. The added bonus is that you will not have to worry too much about shorts if you use a submersible pump. So try dumping the deicer and go for a fountain.

How do I get the razor to charge. It doesn't last more than 10 seconds. I've only had the razor for about 2 months

If the chafing light acts normal, and you still can't use it for a short time after charging, You should go back to the store. A battery should last at least one year. But if the razor was in the store for one or more years, without any charge, the battery can be bad already.
Please try charging a few times, but is the battery keeps running low in a few seconds or minutes, go back to the store with it.

What to do about a frozen fuel line

Go down to your local gas bar and pick up a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze or de-icer and pour them in.They contain alcohol which will clean the ice out with some time. Give it an hour and try to start the car then. If it doesn't let it sit another hour or so and then it should. It won't hurt to add another bottle of de-icer either. At the same time place a trouble light if you have one or if not any light as close to the throttle body as you can and leave it turned on with the hood closed. A 100 watt bulb is best but a 60 watt will do. Don't use those new screw in flourescents, they don't provide enough heat. This should thaw out lines under the hood. Hope this helps.

I have a a pick-up B-3000 extend cab and the rear door are stuck from the button. How can opens these doors?

  • If it's simply the car door lock that's frozen, try heating your car key with a lighter and inserting it into the lock. The heat from the metal may be enough to thaw the ice and allow you to unlock it. To ensure that the lock will not freeze again, spray it with WD-40.

  • If the entire door is frozen, carefully chip the ice away from the edges with a scraper. Be careful not to scratch the paint of the car. If you cannot chip the ice away, try pouring some windshield washer fluid on the icy areas; windshield washer fluid contains alcohol and this may help melt the ice.

  • Use a blow dryer set on high to melt the surrounding ice.

  • The best way to open a frozen car door and prevent future frustration is to purchase de-icer. Many good brands are available at hardware and auto shops - just be sure the solvent displaces moisture and leaves behind a lubricant. If the lock itself is frozen, spray the product directly into the key hole, wait five seconds and then put in your key and try to turn it. Most of these products have straws that help direct the product out of the can and into small areas, making the de-icing process easy.

Once the door is open, consider spraying the de-icer along the hinges of the door to keep other parts from freezing. Keep the de-icer in your home or garage where you can easily find it. Do not keep it in your vehicle. Having de-icer in your frozen vehicle won't do you much good.

Rear passenger side wheel won't turn

sounds like you left the handbrake on in very low temperatures and the moisture has frozen the shoes to the brake drum .....can you get vehicle into a garage to warm up?? if not use a can of de,icer and spray the rear of the wheel not the front and hopefully some will enter the drum and release it.Do you have a blowtorch for plumbing ,if so gently try warming the drum up slowly as this can cause the drum to crack if not done right.Have you tried going in reverse ???this often frees a frozen brake especially in conjuction with a spray of de.icer
