I've had the same problem! Matter of fact uverse has been kind enough to send me out 3 different remotes in a 2 month period. I had a tech out but the problem wasn't happening while he was at the house. By accident by sitting blocking the light from the windows it acted up. The problem is in the sensor of the remote or uverse box, because when ever my problem occurs I shut the blinds and presto! Problem resolved! Uverse doesn't believe me so take it for what it's worth!

I just got u-verse yesterday and i am having the same problem. If i covered up the sensor on the tv the remote seemed to work fine. I showed the technician and he said it was weird, hes never seen it before and will get ahold of me later with a solution. today the thing will hardly work at all now. I think that the phillips tvs and the remotes are running on the same frequency??

Yup, I have the exact same problem. I have a Phillips LCD. The timing seems random: it works for hours then chooses not to work. The only certainty is turning the TV power off makes the DVR repsond to the remote. ATT claims they have never seen this before and think I'm insane. Nevertheless they have replaced my DVR and my remotes to no avail.

I have also noticed that my TV power turns off once in a while. I think this is related to the DVR because it never happenned before I got it.

An AT&T tech had told me about back lights on LCD's that emitt IR and interfere with the signal from remote to box. It is true that when the TV is off the uverse boxs responds fine with the remote. The TV responds well to volume adjustments with the same remote. The uverse box is hit or miss. I turned off the dynamic setting and it helped but still not completely normal

I had an old RCA tube TV and had no problems with the remote, but as soon as I installed my new RCA LCD TV the uverse remote works when it wants to. I had the technician come out and look at it and sure enough it worked fine for him. The AT&T tech support had me do everything from a reset to a total reset that wiped out all my programming of the DVR. That worked for about a day and came back. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this problem with Concast or other cable company's DVRs?

I have the same stupid issue with the remote - intermittent operation, confused signals, and a general 1-second lag between hitting the remote button and the resultant action.

I have tried turned off power saving and every other energy-related option on my Panasonic plasma TV to no avail.

I even tried the masking-tape-over-the-IR-sensor trick described on another forum, again to no avail.

Right now I'm extremely frustrated with the stupid thing.

I have a new Sharp LCD and I turned power save mode and backlight off. The remote will only change the DVR box if I stand 1 foot in front of it. Any other fix?

I just did some research on this problem and found a fix. If your tv has a powersaver feature on it turn it off i put mine on standard and my remote works fine now. weird but it works!

Just wanted to say I was having this same problem with a Samsung LCD. I saw sickberettag's post about power save mode and was very skeptical, but I tried it anyway. Sure enough, I can point the remote the entire other way and it works everytime. This would have never happened before.

Thanks!

I just tried putting mine to Standard mode and am in shock that it seems to be working. I was about ready to switch to another cable company I can't believe ATT didn't test their system out with LCD TV's.

I had been having issues with my U-Verse remote ever since getting a new Vizio LCD. I tried tweaking the display settings and using masking tape over the infrared sensor to no avail. I finally got the issue resolved. My receiver sits on a shelf about 18 inches below my TV. All I did was slide the U-Verse receiver back on the shelf until the front of it was behind the TV screen. After 2 months of constant frustration, I haven't had any issues with the remote since.

I have a Phillips 42 in LCD 42FLP7403D purchased from Costco in 2008. ATT U-verse Remote would freeze on Recorded shows (DVR use) pausing for 10-20 sec to react to inputs.
Used Method above by moving U-verse box behind the TV up against the wall (about 1 foot behind TV) and the freezing problems have disappeared. It appears to be the fluorescent backlight produces EMI that interferes with the Infrared remote in a vertical line from the TV Forward. (Move the ATT box as far away from TV to prevent EMI from happening to solve problem.

Att uverse remote won't work with other devices

Yes you have to use the recommended Uverse codes, and follow the directions to enter the code. Hold the tv button down, on the Uverse remote, then with it stil held down add the OK button, let go of both, then you will see the lights at the top of Uverse remote light up, it is then ready to accept the code, it will be a four digit code, Go to helpme@att.net, and look under TV, then programming the remote is there. Put remote Code in the att search box if you can't find it.

Not able to program vizio remote towork with att uverse Cisco box

Hi,
Maybe too late for you but ATT just gave me a code that works with my Vizio plasma. Code is 1343. Even the mute works correctly. They gave me some others to try but I didn't need them. Other codes were 1018, 0030 and 0056.

Programing Remote

1343 or 1005 are the codes - press the TV mode button and the OK button together - the release at the same time - the top row of mode buttons needs to blink twice - then enter the code - the TV button should blink 2 times - try the power and volume buttons - if it worked then be sure to press the ATT mode button again after so you can change the channels

Most Polaroid flat-screen TVs won't program to the Uverse remotes. Try buying a different universal remote that shows coding for both Uverse and Polaroid.
