If you've tried to troubleshoot the issue using feedback from the community and still have had no luck, the unit is possibly defective. Contact them on their product support and warranty line at 866-486-6866 and explain the steps you have taken

From what I understand, you have a 30 day guarantee for the latest update map. That 30 day stretch starts from the day of first use (not the time of purchase). It it is not a store demonstration unit then you still have 15 days. It goes without saying that if the licensed map has not updated within the 30 days period, there is nothing to update. You can however still use the Map Share feature to download the minor map corrections.

I suggest you frequently connect your unit to the calculator and the Tomtom Home software will do the automatic updates. If a new map is issued within your 30 period you will get. Even if you missed it you should console yourself in the knowledge that major map update are not that frequent. You can also buy other maps from Tomtom.

Tomtom says "No maps found"

It could be the new map is not registered to work with your device.
Every tomtom device has a unique ID wich must be used to register the new map.
If you download the map from tomtom site with your device attached through TomTomHome it must works.

No Maps found on TomTom One XL

You were able to successfully download windows files with your Mac and transfer them to your Tom Tom? I'd suggest trying the transaction again, but doing it with a windows machine. (Trust me, I have a Mac and I realize how unwell it likes to play with Windows.) {But I wouldn't trade it}

No maps

You probably have a directory on your Storage Card called \Storage Card\My Documents\Map_Name

copy the Map_Name folder to the root of your Storage Card

so you have \Storage Card\Map_Name

restart TomTom and it should pick up the map back. if this didnt work then probably the card directory where the map is stored may corrupt or unreadable try reinstalling the map
at least this has worked in many tomtom one’s
And one xl’s that i have tried,
First of all connect your tomtom to your computer.
making sure your online,Go to log on.
if you’ve not created an account create one now.
If you’ve had to create an account restart tomtom home.

You should have the tomtom home screen in front of you,
Now even if tomtom home is showing you logged in, ignore
this click your email adderss in the top right hand side of the screen
and log in again and click continue.
Then click Device/disconnect device.
Now your tomtom will update itself and your maps will be restored
please let me Know if this has worked for you.hope this helps pls apprecite by rating as fixyaa thanks and Godbless

TomTom Home

I had a similar problem when trying to update my dad’s old TomTom Go300. I bought a new map and downloaded TomTom Home 2 (as instructed on the website) but found that the Go300 was recognised by the computer it wasn't recognised by TomTom's own Home 2 software.

To cut a long story short I uninstalled Home 2 and downloaded Home 1 (from http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=17 Home 1 is the one on the right, listed as being the version of Home you use for Navigator 6).

Then when I switched the Go300 on it was recognised by Home1 - although the new map I had bought wasn't listed as being available for download.

However, I updated the Go300 with the available listed free updates, then switched it off.

Downloaded Home 2 again and switched the Go300 on - this time it was recognised by the computer and the new map I had bought was available to download.

So far so good - the only problem was the the postcode search facility was not the same as it had been - I could now only search the first 4 digits of the postcode. There is a fix for this on the tomtom website:

http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&query=postcode&FID=9852

which I followed and which worked.

Hope this may be of some use to someone! It took me hours to figure it all out. But it's up and running now.

I read and read and re-read the TomTom website looking for any info that would help but came up with nothing. A few hours later and the air thick with torrents of language I didn’t think I was capable of I discovered that I needed to download Home1 first and let the Go300 connect to the computer via Home1 before it would be recognisable by Home2. Okay…
On the website, though, Home1 is listed as being the version you use if you have TomTom Navigator 6. It’s not even called ‘Home 1′. Confusing eh? Anyway, I downloaded that and from there found that I could get my new map onto my Go300. Once the map and other updates were installed and I had switched the thing off I then found that Home2 recognised it at last.
That had to be one of the most ridiculously long-winded things I’ve had to do on a computer, mainly because TomTom’s confusing advice on their website made the whole process so damn difficult. Perhaps they hoped I’d give up and buy a new one? Tsk.
