Yes I've check the vent, fuse and inside the dryer to make sure the holes weren't plugged up. I can put a load of clothes in and they will dry. I can put a load of clothes in to dry and they come out wet, I can run the dryer again and the clothes are damp, and again and the clothes are dry.

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

No heat

The following link will explain the most common causes of a dryer "no heat" problem:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

To answer your question, "yes", this is a problem that is worth your effort repairing. This should not be a difficult repair and can be accomplished by the average do-it-yourselfer with just a little guidance. Read through the link I provided you, thoroughly. Pay particular attention to the paragraph that discusses proper ventilation as most dryer heat related problems are attributed to poor (or clogged) ventilation. In general, most commonly, if the heating circuits fail, its for a reason. This is usually caused by overheating due to poor air flow. If you cannot remember the last time your dryer heat ducting was inspected or cleaned, it may be a good time to do so now. If you do not ensure the dryer has proper air flow, replacing parts could become futile as these same components will more than likely fail again. If you have questions, or require addtional assistance please let me know. I hope this helps you.

PS Check your thermal cut-out (TCO) first. This component acts as a fuse and is usually the first to go bad when a dryer fails. If the TCO fails, it is strongly recommended that you replace the hi-limit thermostat at the same time. These components are commonly sold as a set. Failure to do so may result in premature failure of any replaced parts. NOTE: Do all components checks with the dryer UNPLUGGED. Dangerous voltages are still present even with the dryer turned off.
