on the compresor there seems to to be a relay that trys to start it buzzez then turns off.....can any one help...... the tank is warm to the touch

I will still need a better description of the noise. Have you looked in the back to see what might be making the noise, and if so, can you describe what the component looks like, and where it's located in the back?

You'll need to be more precise in describing the noise (whirring, whistling, grinding, buzzing, fluttering, etc.), and where it comes from (inside or outside the box).

Amana AFD2535FES makes loud buzzing noise

When a start relay and the coil that opens the water for the ice maker or the water dispenser begin to weaken they some times buzz. Its possible you will need to either replace the=> 67003753 Water Inlet Valve

or the compressor=> 67005560 Relay or overload with run capacitor

Here is a parts manual for your=> AFD2535FES and a user manual=> HERE If you have questions please ask thanks Sea Breeze

Amana side by side refridg/freezer. Freezer not freezing, everything defrosted. Getting a buzzing noise then a click, then buzzing stops. Compressor overload?

A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
It does a lot of clicking (trying to start over and over again)
If thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
I use part no ERP410 POWER START RELAY, CAPACITOR AND OVERLOAD all in one. (110 v)

Thank you for using fixya

My refrigerator/freezer is making a sharp buzzing noise followed by a loud click. Its been doing this every few minutes for a while, and now today, everything in my freezer appears to be defrosting.

Is that buzzing/click you hear from the compressor area?
If it is from their, the relay on the compressor has gone out, or the compressor is locked up.To determine which of those it is the amprage draw using a amp meter clamped to the wire on the overload thermostat where the relay is, must be measured, if 17 or higher amps the compressor has locked up, if its around 5 or so the relay has gone out and replacing both relay and overload will fix it.If the compressor has locked that is a major repair and may cost up to $1200

Refrigerator not cooling, freezer not freezing. Can hear fan running continuouisly and an occasional buzzing noise that lasts for about 20 seconds then ends with a clicking sound.

the buzzing and click noise is the ptc overload relay on the compressor, its bad, unplug it off the compressor and obtain a replacement and plug in the new one

My refrigerator has been making a buzzing noise all day. Now the freezer is not freezing. Can is be fixed?

Start relay, start capacitor and overload need replaced. I'm not sure what model you have but I do know those symptoms and it does not hurt to run some test on compressor windings, Thanks Sea Breeze

Buzzing noise lasting 5-10 sec, occurs every 4 min. Seems to be coming from relay attached to freon tub

Hi, That would be the relay/overload you hear. The "buzzing" is the start device of the compressor, and the "clicking" is the overload/cut-out protector. It may just be a faulty relay/ start device, or it may be effect of a locked rotor in the compressor. You can try to replace the start device and see if that yields any remedy, ( I recommend and use the RCO410 also known as a HS410 3 in1 hard start kit) if it doesn't start a tech, it may need a compressor and some units have a five-ten year warranty on the compressor, check your owners manual under "warranties". Hopefully that's a start for you. Good luck

Buzzing noise near compressor on an Amana refer. PARB1917CSO

I can help , It was the relay , they can blow when they experience a hard start , by replacing it and having the same issue this means the compressor is locked up , they sell a booster for this that can sometimes free the compressor up , its called an rco410 , this part will be your only chance to get your compressor going again. let me know if you have any other questions and tell me how it works out.

Buzzing compressor

heres a part number for the overload relay assy 5304468029.. its mounted on the side of compressor. its a tricky one, usually my experience has been the noise comes from a bad compressor( which you should have 5 year full warr from manufacture). sometimes the overload relay does go bad preventing compressor from starting, the n ew compressor will come with a new overload relay

I have a Jenn Air refrigerator and it is making a loud buzzing noise every few minutes...fridge and freezer are not as cold...what could it be?

sounds like the overload relay assy trying to start your compressor, usuallya sign of a bad compressor.. you can try to replace the overload relay, but if its under five years you should have a full manufactue warr on the compressor (comes with new overload relay)
