Presume you mean the lid switch striker. This removes via a single philips screw at the side of the lid/ striker - replace with new.

How do I replace a lid switch for model # awm392w

I own 20 speed queen top loaders that the same machine as yours.
they are 19years old and have never had a lid switch go out.
the problem is the arm that activates the switch gets bent and can activate the switch. to fix take the 2 screws out of the left side of the lid hinge then tilt the lid to the side and slide the right side out. this is the arm that activates the switch . looking at the top of the lid bend the arm up just a small amount. them put it back on the machine and try it you may have to bend a little more to make it work.

Doesn't spin during spin cycle

What happens over time is the lid gets a little bent from use , reason it wont start unless lid is put down is because there is a lid switch that is called a safety switch, you might have to bend down lid some or this: Ok, first check under the lid, there is a peg that goes into the top edge of the washer. That is a switch. The idea between this is that it is a safety feature for mostly kids, so that when the washer is on that high speed spin cycle, that a child does not open up lid and stick there arm or hand in and have it injured. Most washer are designed so that the washer will only spin when the washing machine lid is down. So, of course you have it down, but sometimes the lid might have got a little bent or warped. So first try with lid down pushing down on lid while on spin cycle. If still wont spin, most likely it is that switch that that peg goes into, if you take a knife or flat head screw driver, with lid up on spin cycle and push into that hole with the knife or flat head screw driver and do not here a click when pushing it and releasing it, then you need to replace that switch, it is pretty cheep, normally under 20 bucks and a appliance store and when picking up the part they can tell you exactly how to replace it yourself, it is pretty easy and only takes a few minutes.

Washer light comes on, but nothing happens

Hello, My name is Mike, welcome to fixya.

I am thinking you probably broke the door switch and the machine thinks the door is open. little piece on top of the lock catch. need to change the door switch. The switch is know as a safety switch. The idea between this is that it is a safety feature for mostly kids, so that when the washer is on that high speed spin cycle, that a child does not open up lid and stick there arm or hand in and have it injured. Most washer are designed so that the washer will only spin when the washing machine lid is down. Also sometimes it will not allow it to even start,as it thinks door is not closed.
Sometimes the lid might have got a little bent or warped. So first try with lid down pushing on lid. If still wont operate most likely it is that switch that that peg goes into, if you take a knife or flat head screw driver, and push into that hole with the knife or flat head screw driver and do not here a click when pushing it and releasing it, then you need to replace that switch, it is pretty cheep, normally under 20 bucks and a appliance store and when picking up the part they can tell you exactly how to replace it yourself, it is pretty easy and only takes a few minutes. Sometimes sense you should unplug it prior to testing switch and fiddling with it,, after you plug it back in, you might get lucky and have it work after plugging it back in. But I believe most likely it will be the switch that needs replacing. I hope this helps, MIKE

u have a safety switch theres an arm on the door that when the door closes it goes into a hole and pushes a switch the arm may be broke or the switch may be bad or it might be as simple as a wire has came off of the switch but if not unplug washer and take wires off he switch and check continuity across terminals when the switch is pushed in if alll this fails u may have a bad adgitator motor lets just hope its the switch thats a cheap and easy fix
