I have tried several different batteries from different packs and the camera will turn on for a second and then turn off and the lens stays out.

Same problem here folks...just sent mine off to precision camera for repair $95 is what the estimate is for repair. I was 1 month outside of warranty and think that our friends at Kodak might now something about this problem, but won't offer assistance when you call them.

my kodax camera just turn on for a split second and shut off and then I put some new charge batteries in it, it still does the same thing. I don't understand why it does that in the first place!

I have the EXACT same problem! The camera turns on for a second to let the lens out and then it freezes and won't take pictures, and it won't shut off either-----it's just frozen like that. I have tried regular batteries, and then went out and got rechargeable batteries. I still have the same problem. I have missed some great pictures because of this.

    Can anyone help me?

This problem just started happening for me. I've had the camera just over a year... maybe 15 months. If you repeatedly try turning the camera on, it seems to eventually work for a while. The problem seems worse with rechargeables than normal AA's. I bet the rechargeables provide a lower amp current, and the camera "thinks" they're low sooner. This is bad though, as buying batteries is way too expensive.

My Z1275 was off with the lens open. When I turned it on, the lens moved a little, the screen came on
for an instant, and then the camera off.

Here is what I did to "fix" it.

I turned it on and helped the lens (gently) close while it was moving. It closed and the camera came on.

It must have been dropped and slightly bent in such a way where the lens could not close.

Good Luck!

Camera turns on for a second beeps three times and shuts off.

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Mine did the same thing. Just let it sit for a couple of days. Don't mess with it. It'll eventually stop doing that and work. That's what i did. It worked for mine.

My camera turns on then quickly turns off.

This is usually a low/bad battery problem. Remove the batteries from your camera and make sure the battery and camera contacts are clean. If using alkaline batteries, try a fresh set. If using rechargeable batteries, recharge them for several hours. If a recharge doesn't work, you may need a new battery set. eBay is a good source for reasonably priced replacement batteries.

Hey Gregorious03,
You could try removing the batteries for at least one minute and then reinserting them, or you could try initializing the camera back to the factory settings under the setup menu. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
