How do I use my self cleaning option?

I bought a house with a self cleaning oven but it had no paperwork. I have never had an oven with this option, so I am not sure how to use it.

It depends on which model you have. Some have automatic locks others have a lever but the door has to be locked in order for self clean to work. Then you will have a knob to turn to "self clean" or a button that says clean or self clean to push then you will very likely have to select a temp and maybe press start. It is a very high heat process it doesn't always smell pleasant normally takes several hours 3-5 hours. The door will remain locked untill clean cycle completes and the oven cools. Then you can open the door and wipe out the ash.

How do I clean my Kenmore Elite self cleaning oven

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Although you have posted onto the WASHING MACHINE forum I think I can help! With ours there is a switch selection which indicates 'self clean'. All 'self clean' really does is run the oven at a very high temperature which burns the residue to cinder, which you then wipe out!

Anyway methinks you could do with a manual for your oven (this pre-typed advice said 'washer' of course!)- for now and probably later but sorry, FixYa cannot do that direct. Members of the forum are just people from all over the world, probably working from home, and not representing any particular manufacturer ;-0)
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make model number) oven manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount.
You could also try the manufacturer's web site direct ;-0)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

How do I get the door to unlock so that I can restart the washer?

There are two ways of solving this type of problem, here are the way out to solve it below
please carefully follow this instruction below

On these units they have a self resetting device that you will need to activate this is done by unplugging the oven for at least one hour then plugging it back in and wait for 5 min then press the normal cancel button or you might even hear a click sound then you will be allowed to unlock it ok and close the door hope this helps you out or

IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at
The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock.
IF the self clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the washer to cool down before the lock can un-lock (safety feature)

please rate this solution it helps get better results for our customers like you

you and thanks for using fixya.

Thanks for using FixYa. F1-E2 error indicates that the oven is too hot & the oven temperature sensor has gone bad and should be replaced to resolve the issue. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

When I turn the oven on, it goes into self-cleaning mode.

This sounds to me like your oven may need a new controller board. :(

Amana Touchmatic Heavy Duty Washer Filter Light Flashing

I have the same washer unit and I purchased my washer new in 1989. The flashing filter light is normal. If the light doesn't flash, than the water filter is plugged up. The water filter is self cleaning each time the water empties. You can take off the front panel(two screws at the bottom and the top disengages with metal clips. The water filter in at the bottom on the right, white plastic housing. There is a drive belt from the motor that powers the pump. When the washer goes into the spin cycle, the motor changes rotation direction and the pump works in reverse, thus flushing out the lint that may have been captured during the agitation cycle. I hope this helps.
