Can I use oven cleaner on the inside of the oven?

I have been given a used range that needs a good cleaning inside and out. I want to do this before it is installed later this week. Can I use oven cleaner on the inside of the oven? How about the range top?

How/what can be used to clean range ''glass top'' can those green spunges be used/

Oven cleaner, use EASY-OFF Fume Free Oven Cleaner, it is the best
    for cooked stains.

You should not use anything but a soft cloth, and if you use the cleaner
    you won't need something abrasive.

Once you put tiny scratches into the glass, it will be more difficult to clean.

After you clean it with oven cleaner, rinse it with a warm wash cloth a few times, to make sure no cleaner is left behind, and read the directions.

The inside of my self cleaning smooth top range

Using any kind of cleaning solution can cause the self-clean catalytic coating to be damaged. The glass itself isn't sensitive but don't apply anything like oven cleaner or other caustic cleaner to any of the other surfaces unless your owner's guide specifically permits it. On the glass, I have on occasion used a new single-edge razor blade to remove any heavy, baked on splatters and then conventonal glass cleaner to finish.

Since we bought our Maytag Gemini 9 years ago, every time I use the oven cleaning function, I get an f9-4 error and cannot clean my oven. Is there anything I can do to bypass this? Its just too expensive...

Oven Cleaner can be used instead of letting the ovens "Self Clean". This error report you are getting could be a couple of things, 1 the oven latching mechanism may have gone on the blink (this is the part that locks the door during the cleaning process to prevent any opening of the door during cleaning) 2 it could be that the oven will not reach the self cleaning temp. any longer (this temp is much higher than the hi broil) Good Luck

    WHITE FILM INSIDE OVEN

your mom may have used a non-self cleaning cleaner to try and clean this oven in the past. you wont have much luck getting rid of the stain but using cleaners like easy-off or mr muscle may help you reduce the staining.
it could also be that an element has shorted out and "burned" the surface of the oven. if the oven doesnt heat properly then check the elements for a rough or burnt out area. that does happen but its probably just going to be stained as it sounds like you have tried to do the cleaning.
p.s. i like mr muscle better then easy-off.

The filter in the jenn air can be run through the dishwasher. clean the outside of the oven as best as you can before you start the self clean cycle. NEVER!!! use oven cleaner inside a self cleaning oven. or on the gasket. . You can use a degreaser or oven cleaner on the cooktop on any stainless steel, procelain or chrome surface. Don't get oven cleaner on painted or aluminum surfaces. Rinse off very well.

Inside the oven door there are some stains from liquid spill that went through the vent, how can I clean it.

If your oven is self-cleaning, consult the owner's manual for instructions on how to use this feature. The self-cleaning feature works by heating the interior of the oven to a temperature so hot that it incinerates the residue inside the oven. Normally, it is not a good idea to clean the interior of a self-cleaning oven with a spray cleaner; however, refer to your owner's manual or contact the manufacturer of your oven for further information.

To clean a non-self-cleaning oven, use one of the many oven cleaners that are available at grocery and hardware stores.

I believe they make an oven cleaner for self clean ovens.  Don't try regular oven cleaner.  Ruins finish.
